A LETTER FROM THE CHIEF PROGRAM OFFICER
|
Dear Greetings!,
While there may be snow on the ground, spring is not that far off. And spring means
The Frolic
, ODA’s annual benefit, is right around the corner! I hope you will join us as we celebrate a decade of serving kids and families at multiple sites across Greater Cleveland. The Frolic is on April 6th from 6:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the House of Blues.
Since joining ODA in January as Chief Program Officer, I have quickly learned there are many reasons to celebrate. Our network of community partners is integral to the success of our programming, and I am grateful for the support and expertise of our partners. Likewise, I am honored to lead our programming team who
work tirelessly to deliver on our mission of ending the cycle of poverty
. Our focus on providing social emotional support gives scholars and families strategies to use as they confront challenges.
As I look to the months ahead, I am excited to participate in the many events that make our model special: The International Festival, parent meetings, family fitness activities, conferences, field trips, college visits, and community partner gatherings.
I am eager to build on our strong foundation of social-emotional learning, service learning, family engagement, experiential learning, post-secondary transitions, and summer programming.
And I look forward to continued collaboration with all of you as we deepen ODA’s impact and expand our reach.
Sincerely,
Dorothy Moulthrop
Chief Program Officer

KEYBANK: A DECADE OF SUPPORT TO ODA
|
|
For the past three years,
Key Private Bank
has been a significant contributor to our special events, sponsor at the Dean’s List level for the Frolic and at the Graduate level for the Speaker Series Luncheon.
We are deeply appreciative that Key is once again supporting the Frolic through a Dean’s List sponsorship and helping ODA celebrate 10 years of multi-site programming. In fact, support from Key has also spanned a decade. This includes a matching grant through KeyBank’s Community Leadership Gift Program, recommended by former ODA board member Josh Cochran.
We have also received grant funding from the KeyBank Foundation to support ODA high school programming.

COMMUNITY PARTNER SPOTLIGHT:
CENTER FOR ARTS INSPIRED LEARNING
|
The
Center For Arts Inspired Learning
, or CAL for short, uses all forms of art—dance, theater, music, digital arts, visual arts, and literary arts—as an imaginative and engaging vehicle for igniting student learning, creativity, and success. This mission is fulfilled each day in classrooms, libraries, and community spaces across Northeast Ohio by teaching artists, dual-career professionals who actively engage PK-12 students in programs that not only teach children about the arts, but use art as an accessible pathway to academic, cognitive, and social-emotional growth.
CAL provides some of the most unique enrichment activities ODA scholars participate in. From creating stop motion animation film to learning African dance and drumming, this organization provides a variety of creative global and cultural learning opportunities during 8 weeks of ODA summer programming and the upcoming International Festival performances.
ODA could not be more thankful for this amazing Cleveland partner!
