A Message from the Head of School
Mrs. Debra Freeburn, Head of School
This is going to be short and not filled with my thoughts or my jabbering about this or that...rather it’s a plain and simple THANK YOU!!!

Thanks to so many people for giving of their time and energy to make The Silver Academy the wonderful school that it is!! First, I’d like to thank Kimberlea Keltner-Konowitch for filling in for Amy while she was on maternity leave. Kimberlea did an amazing job, but without Myrna Rubin, we’d all have been in big trouble!! Myrna worked many, many hours and volunteered even more, to help out in the front office...Thank you Kimberlea and Myrna!!!

Thanks to all the volunteers (and Kimberlea for organizing) for making calls on Giving Tuesday and kicking off our Silver Academy annual campaign. Katherine Baker made calls practically the entire day and brightened everyone’s day merely by being at Silver. Holly Engelman, thank you, for putting together the Life and Legacy gifts for Chanukah...it’s always great to have you at Silver!! Thanks to our super volunteer Esther Beck who is helping out with tutoring and reading support!! Thanks to Stacey Shubitz for using her expertise to guide writing in Mrs. Hurley’s class.

There are SO many people to thank, and I’m sure if I were to try to make a complete list, I’d miss many...therefore I’ll put out a THANK YOU to all of YOU for supporting The Silver Academy and believing in US and the importance of OUR school in YOUR community.

Shabbat Shalom,
Debra

Good Things Happen Every Day at The Silver Academy
Kindergarten Judaics
Mrs. Yasminah Huberman

Kindergarten students have been hard at work mastering the Hebrew letters. These energetic students had fun learning the letters Alef through Zayin along with everyday words that begin with each letter. Students loved using shaving cream, paint and other manipulatives to reinforce each letter. Also, each week our class learns about the weekly Parsha through reading and related projects. This week our lesson was about Joseph's coat of many colors, and students made a coat out of tissue paper...It was very colorful! Lastly, our Kindergarteners are excited to be preparing for Chanukah. We are learning the Chanukah story, Brachot, the letters on the dreidel, and how to properly light the candles.
Math
Mrs. Jane Dalton

What is 6 colors and rolled all over? NUMBER JUMBLER! This problem-solving game gets students in grades 4-8 thinking at the beginning of math class. Students shake the dice to determine their Number Jumbler problem for the day...Add the 2 black dice for the goal. Combine the other 5 colored dice using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents, and factorials to reach the goal. Students are encouraged to write a numerical expression and solve it using order of operations.
Physical Education
Mrs. Tori Levine

Students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade had a lot of fun working on team building, cooperation, and problem solving while playing “Crossing the River/lava” in PE class.
We are thankful!

  • A BIG thank you to Everyone who so generously donated to our #GivingTuesday campaign and Phone-A-Thon. We raised over $20,000 in donations and pledges!

  • Thank you to the volunteers, led by Chairwoman Kimberlea Konowitch, who helped with our Phone-A-Thon

  • Thank you, Holly Engelman, for organizing our Hanukkah gift for our Life and Legacy donors

  • A special Welcome Back to Amy Guilemette. Thank you again to Kimberlea Konowitch and Myrna Rubin for filling in during Amy's maternity leave.
Congratulations
