HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum will host a special presentation by Penn State professor of political rhetoric and communication
Mary E. Stuckey entitled,
"Visual Rhetoric and America's World War II Poster Art," at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home. Following the program, attendees may visit the Library's current special exhibition, "The Art of War: American Poster Art 1941-1945," free of charge.
This is a free public event but registration is required.
Amid concerns about a sharply polarized public -- and a media environment in which news outlets don't seem to share the same facts -- questions about "fake news," persuasion, and propaganda are commonplace today. Professor Stuckey will discuss the Roosevelt Library's current special exhibition, "The Art of War: American Poster Art 1941-1945," and how it offers an opportunity to talk about the history, nature, importance, and dangers of propaganda in a democratic society.
