Rental Housing Report and Homeless Counts
The Province last week issued two key reports relating to housing and homelessness: the 2018 Report on Homeless Counts in BC finding a minimum of 7,655 homeless people in BC; and the final report of the Rental Housing Task Force making 23 recommendations on wide ranging aspects of the rental housing framework. Over $53 Million Transferred to BC Communities
The next transfer of allocated funding from the Federal Gas Tax Fund will be distributed to BC local governments over the next 30 days. The Community Works Fund (CWF) is delivered twice annually to all local governments in British Columbia to support local priorities. The current allocation will distribute more than $53.7 million in federal funding.

RCMP Unwilling to Amend Auxiliary Uniform
In response to UBCM's request to amend the proposed Auxiliary Constable uniform, RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki has indicated that there will be no changes in the immediate future. UBCM is seeking a new uniform that visually conveys the professionalism and authority held by Auxiliary Constables. Read more
