The School Governance Teams from all of Barrow County schools have provided input into the academic calendar for students. We are now seeking your input for the preferred calendar option for the 2019-2020 school year. Thank you for participating in our two-question survey! Click here.

¡Gracias! Haga un clic aquí.

                            Happy Tales or Tails?

Sunshine Soldiers is a club open to 2nd and 3rd graders at Auburn Elementary. Their goal is to spread sunshine in our community. One special way the "Soldiers" bring "Sunshine," is by reading to homeless dogs at the Barrow County Animal Shelter. This helps socialize dogs which makes them more adoptable. It also helps our students with reading fluency and teaches them about having compassion for all living things.

They visited the shelter twice during the 2017-18 school year, and had their first trip of the year in September. The kids always look forward to these trips. Lily Hougland a former member said, "I really liked looking at all the animals. They are really cute and I liked getting to read to them." The club is lead by 2nd grade teachers Brooke Dubay and Kellie McGrath. See pictures.

Lots 2 Love

To recognize the National School Lunch Program and the 30 million children it serves every day, Barrow County schools recognized National School Lunch Week from October 15-19, 2018. The theme, "Lots 2 Love," encourages students and school nutrition professionals across the country to share what they love most about school lunch programs.

"School lunches are healthier than ever, with more fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and less fat and sodium," said Pamela LeFrois, Director of School Nutrition. "National School Lunch Week helps us educate parents and students about all the benefits of our lunch program, and the appealing choices we offer." See Pictures.
