What's New at CAP OC?
Stanton Community Garden Relocation
CAP OC, along with our wonderful partners, such as United Healthcare (photo above), have all contributed to the success of the Stanton Community Garden. Although it was never intended to be a permanent location, we have created a wonderful space as well as community for residents to grow their own fruits and vegetables over the past three years. We were recently informed that the current property has been sold and our last day to vacate the garden will be January 31, 2019.

The City of Stanton identified a permanent relocation site for us near City Hall, however, there are several projects that we need to complete in order to prepare the new site such as leveling the ground and installing a water line. We are committed to make the move to our new site successful and invite you to this giving opportunity to participate in this transition.

You can help provide:
  • Monetary donations
  • Volunteers
  • Leveling out the land with an excavator
  • Water line installation
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Thank You, United Healthcare!
United Healthcare has been an incredible partner in a variety of CAP OC programs. They have supported the Stanton Community Garden for the past three years, participated in multiple garden clean up days, as well as maintained their own plot and donated produce grown to our Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center.

United Healthcare has provided baskets to CAP OC participants for various holidays, such as Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Also, United Healthcare staff have made several donations to CAP OC in order to support the various programs we offer to the community. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership, United Healthcare!
Thank You to Kiewit for Your Support
"With stewardship as one of our core values, Kiewit Constructors is always looking for opportunities to give back to the communities that we build in. Our employees recently came together to collect over 4000 canned goods and raise more than $13,000 for Community Action Partnership of Orange County and the OC Food Bank as our way of saying thank you to the community for welcoming our company and our employees," states Andrew Pate, engineer at Kiewit Power Constructors.

The great work we do for our community to fight the causes and effects of poverty we could not do alone. It is through the help of partners throughout the community that helps us sustain our amazing programs. Thank you for your generous donation, Kiewit Power Constructors!

Sprouts Volunteer Day at The Giving Farm
CAP OC is pleased to announce our newest partnership with Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation (SHCF). Sprouts is generously sponsoring “The Giving Farm”, a farm-to-food bank collaborative community program. The Giving Farm is an 8-acre urban farm located on the Westminster High School campus which aims to educate the students and community members about sustainable agricultural land use practices. Additionally, the program expects to deliver over 200,000 pounds of produce annually for consumption by low-income communities. This partnership will allow us to purchase much needed supplies that will allow us to run the day-to-day operations at the farm.

On November 3rd, 2018, The Giving Farm hosted 20 Sprouts employee volunteers representing local Sprouts stores for a Day of Service. The volunteers harvested 8,378 lbs. of butternut squash. This will be able to supply 26,814 people with the recommended vegetable portion of a meal! The Sprouts employees were very eager to learn about urban agriculture but most importantly, to harvest as many rows of squash as possible. Employees were joined by family members which made it a fantastic bonding experience for them and also a great team building activity. CAP OC and the OC Food Bank are thrilled about this new partnership with SHCF to enhance the quality of life of residents in Orange County by eliminating and preventing the causes and effects of poverty. Toy Drives
Because Every Child Deserves a Toy for the Holidays
Community Action Partnership of Orange County is fortunate enough to provide toys to low-income children throughout Orange County. For this upcoming holiday season, we are faced with a growing demand for toys that we cannot fulfill on our own. Please donate an unwrapped toy to help make this a holiday season to remember. You can drop off toys at our main office: 11870 Monarch Street, Garden Grove, CA 92841. We please ask that donated toys please be new, and not used or gently used.
