PASTOR'S REFLECTION
I think we all remember the camel in the snow several weeks back. His name was Einstein, and he was riding in a trailer that got stuck in the snow on Rt. 309 in that freak November snowstorm. He became a sensation overnight! Today I listened to a song written about him on YouTube - "Einstein the Snow Camel". Can you imagine?!
Well, Einstein is one of the camels from the Peaceable Kingdom Petting Zoo. One of their other camels is named Percy, and Percy was one of the stars of the show this past Sunday evening at the Drive-Thru Living Nativity. He was almost as popular as the baby Jesus!
After many long months of preparation - along with a lot of hard work, a lot of excitement, and many folk committed to making our first Living Nativity a success, we suffered what was almost a wash-out. It was a dreary, drizzly day. And then, just as predicted, the steadier rain arrived about 4 pm - just about an hour before going live. But, no worries! Thanks to a box full of disposable hooded rain ponchos, and a whole lot of enthusiasm, our Drive-thru Living Nativity attracted several hundred cars - despite the rain! I finished up my last shift as an angel, and I quickly jumped in my car and drove through myself. What a awesome experience of the birth of our Savior! What a great job our church family did! And what a wonderful gift to our community!
Standing outside on a damp, cold, rainy, windy night is a fairly unpleasant thing - I think we would all agree with that. But the good news is that a lot of hearts were touched, and the fun and fellowship was contagious.
Thank you to everyone who took part in Sunday's event. Whether you were part of the construction crew, the planning team, the costume designers, one of the characters, the kitchen crew, or someone who provided food and snacks for the participants, you made a difference to our local community. You gave witness to the love of Christ.
                                         Pastor Janice

Sarah Floyd and her 17-year-old daughter, Laura, traveled to Pravaham this summer to assist her 83 year old mother who has been a missionary and nurse-consultant to Pravaham for many years.  While there, they caught a vision of the life-changing work that's going on.  This program creates a self-sustaining well that changes lives and changes the entire community.

The One-In-A-Million By
by: Monica Wood
The story of your life never starts at the beginning.  Don't they teach you that in school?  So says 104-year-old Ona to the 11 year-old-boy who's been sent to help her out every Saturday morning.  As he refills the bird feeders and tidies the garden shed.  Ona tells him about her long life, from first love to second chances. Soon she is confessing she has kept secrets for decades.  We learn that the world can surprise us at any age, and sometimes sharing a loss is the only way to find ourselves again.
