Players Workshop Presents Free Workshop for Youth

Great River Health System Offers Diabetes Classes in January
What:
Great River Diabetes Education offers four-week group diabetes classes every month.
Group diabetes classes are for people newly diagnosed, making a change in treatment, or having complications or concerns. A physician referral for diabetes education is required. Most insurance companies cover the fee for the class series. A family member or friend is encouraged to attend at no additional cost.

Ultimate Elvis Tribute at The Legacy Theater

Great River Friends Offers Scholarships for 2019-2020 School Year
What:
Applications for Great River Friends scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year are available. Two types of scholarships are offered to students pursuing health care careers: 1) applicants for high school scholarships must be seniors with minimum 3.0 grade point averages. They must live in or attend schools within Great River Health System's service area (about 60 miles); 2) applicants for continuing college student scholarships must have graduated from high schools in Great River Health System's service area in the last 10 years and have completed at least one year of college. Students in graduate school may apply. Scholarship applications are available at greatriverhealthsystem.org.

Livestrong at the YMCA
What:
The Burlington Y is running a free program for cancer survivors in the area. It is open to any adult who has had a cancer diagnosis and at any stage of recovery or treatment. Specially trained instructors guide participants through areas of exercise focusing on cardio endurance, strength, flexibility and balance. The twice weekly classes are tailored to the needs and abilities of the participants. Included is a membership to the Burlington YMCA for the run of the program in order to encourage participants to work on their fitness goals outside of class time. Registration is open from now until the program begins January 8.
