KIDS HEART CHALLENGE
Update from Mr. O'Doherty
Bassett held its annual 'Kids Heart Challenge' (formally known as Jump Rope for Heart) event during the week of February 11-15. Our students participated in the event as part of Physical Education class. Fun activities included jump rope, hula-hoop, rope climbing, musical spots, moon hoppers, and dancing. The American Heart Association sponsored this event.
Families were provided with a donation envelope and the amount raised this year totaled
$5,131
. Thanks to all who contributed to this great cause! Our Bassett family has again displayed immense caring and generosity. Students who donated will receive thank you gifts from the American Heart Association. These gifts are expected to arrive in early April.
In the 15 years I have been involved with this program, Bassett has raised over $92,000 to fund cardiovascular research and educational programs in Ohio and across the Nation! That is truly outstanding!

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT
March 5, 6:00 pm
Westlake Council of PTAs invites you to HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT on
Tuesday, March 5 at 6:00 pm at the Westlake Schools Performing Arts Center. This program is for adults only.
HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT constructs what appears to be the bedroom of the average teenager. But items that are taken for granted as usual accessories may actually be signals that the teenager could be involved in risky and even illegal activity, including substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more.
Exploration and interaction with the exhibit is encouraged. Get an up-close look at the items in the room and be shown how they can be used. Participants will be enlightened, educated, and astonished.
After participants explore the exhibit, there will be a discussion facilitated by police personnel and school resource officers.
If you have questions, please contact Dawn Evans at devansbk@gmail.com. The Westlake Council of PTAs programming flyer is here.
