Friends,

Advent is a special time here at BC High. In this period of hopeful anticipation we are reminded of the life-changing promise that comes with the birth of Christ. As we spend the next few weeks preparing the way of the Lord I invite you to consider how that same Advent promise lives in each of our students.

We await the impact these young men will have - change we know is coming because of the transformative education they have received at BC High. They will become leaders, as our alumni have, in fields from law to healthcare, engineering, finance, and government. We know their education empowers them to effect real change in their communities and in our world.

In our role as BC High faculty and staff, as alumni, parents, and friends we work to steward these young men and prepare them in the best possible way to bring light, faith, and hope into this world. I thank you for your part in that, and for all that you do in this community.

On behalf of all of us here on Morrissey Boulevard I wish you and your families a merry Christmas and a bright, blessed New Year!
AMDG,
BC High Magazine Launch
By now most of you should have received your copy of the newly redesigned BC High magazine in your mailboxes. You will likely notice that this issue is different from past issues of BC High Today. In fact, we've decided to drop "Today" from the title and re-launch our school's magazine after a significant redesign effort this summer.

We sought to breathe new life into this publication so that everyone in our community is proud to display and share it your friends, coworkers, and clients. Even prospective families will now have a window into this wonderful community at a simple glance.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback on this first issue! Great things are in store for our next issue in Spring 2019.
2018 Hall of Fame Induction and Wall Unveiling
I want to again congratulate all of this year's Hall of Fame inductees. It was wonderful to have so many accomplished student-athletes back on campus to celebrate with friends and family. It was also a tremendous privilege to celebrate the selfless service of Richard "Ratt" Kennedy and Fr. William "Bill" Joy '64, our award recipients.

After the induction ceremony I had great fun unveiling our new Hall of Fame Wall with Principal Hughes. All of our inductees across the years now have a permanent place of honor on campus. Please feel free to take a look the next time you're on Morrissey Boulevard! For pictures of the evening please visit this page.

A Successful Giving Tuesday
On November 27 more than 100 members of our community joined together to celebrate Giving Tuesday. Together alumni, parents, and friends raised $46,320 for The Fund for BC High in just a single day. I am humbled by your generosity and particularly heartened by an anonymous $25,000 gift made during the challenge. ‪Your gifts have a direct impact on BC High students every day, giving many young men the life-changing opportunity to be part of our family.
BC High in the Community
One of my favorite responsibilities as President is representing BC High in the Greater Boston community. It is always a wonderful opportunity to bring a bit of our school into the outside world. I strive to bring the energy and enthusiasm of our students with me wherever I go.

  • Kelly DeGregorio and I were delighted to be guests of Catherine Curtin P’21 at A Company Christmas at Pops. It was a special night of friendship and fun with a surprise visit from Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who treated us to a reading of “Twas The Night Before Christmas” in Spanish.

  • Ursuline Academy held a Commissioning Mass for their new President, Kate Nolan Levesque ’77. We wish the Ursuline community the very best - God is good!

  • I was thrilled to join several other leaders in the City of Boston at the Catholic Charities Annual Christmas Gala to honor Boston Police Commissioner William G. Gross and Former Commissioner William B. Evans P'11 for their service to the community. Honoring our Coaches
One of the things that makes BC High Athletics such an incredible program is our outstanding coaching staff. The care our coaches show for their players and the commitment to their craft is second to none. Many coaches at BC High are faculty and staff, alumni, or both. They understand the student-athlete experience and work hard to make athletics an extension of the classroom where young men are formed as leaders.

In the past few months several of our coaches have received accolades across the country. Congratulations to them all:

We are proud of their dedication to leadership in the classroom and commitment to service in the community. They are fine examples of the character and academic excellence that all BC High students strive to attain and embody!
