President's Tree returns to Observatory Hill

The La Follette School recently experienced a rebirth of sorts. A graft from the long-standing, much-beloved President's Oak was planted near Washburn Observatory during a ceremony celebrating both the future and the past.  The original President's Oak lived for more than 300 years old just outside the La Follette School, which originally housed several university presidents - hence, its name. Study finds state's African American poverty rate 3 to 4 times higher than white poverty rate
Although there appears to be some progress in reducing child poverty in Wisconsin - especially black child poverty, which has fallen from 39.1 percent in 2008 to 30.4 percent in 2016 - the rates for children of color remain multiple times higher than those for white children. Read more.

2018 Policy Report highlights faculty research
The 2018 Policy Report focuses on foreign trade policies, work re-entry after retirement, solar energy, financial decision-making, and the impact of minimum-wage increases on Hispanic women.
