Ivo Kerssemakers was born in the Netherlands and raised in Amsterdam, where he started a software business. In 1997 he moved to the United States and continued to work as a software developer, where he lived in places such as Knoxville, TN, Schenectady, NY, Virginia Beach, VA before settling in Murrells Inlet, SC.

In 2015 Ivo began pursuing his passion for photography professionally and he has since won multiple awards for his work. His signature work consists of black and white, long-exposure photography, with an emphasis on clean, surrealistic, minimalist type imagery

Ivo creates this effect in his photographs by using a long exposure technique, where he uses heavy neutral density filters to achieve exposure times of over 4 minutes in bright daylight.
