Our Volunteers Are The Best!

Thanks, Carl, for doing some of the dirty work on the OV-10 Restoration!

There is an entire cadre of fantastic people and new friends waiting to work with you at the Estrella Warbirds MuseumActivities at the museum have greatly increased since re-opening. This has been great! Not only are we seeing more visitors, but we also have been provided more options for possibly adding additional donated aircraft and military vehicle artifacts. The Covid issue took a toll on the number of active older volunteers.  If you (or know of someone) who would like to get involved greeting people, sharing similar interests or helping in restorations, we can use your assistance.

SLO County has asked the Museum to be the site of a polling place for the November 2020 election. We need 11 to 15 volunteers to man the polls.  The poll will be open from Saturday October 31st through Tuesday November 3rd.  The shifts will be for 4 hours except on Tuesday. Duties include curbside pickup, drop box control, voter rolls and sanitizing.

Call the Museum at 1-805-238-9317 extension 2 and talk to Ken Neuman or leave a message and we will contact you. Or, fill out our Volunteer Signup form here.

Kids Never Find Estrella Warbirds Museum Boring!
Everly, Rowan, and Liam Stein Jump for Joy on their recent visit to Estrella Warbirds Museum

It's always amazing to watch children enjoy their visit to Estrella Warbirds Museum. As adults, we sometimes think that kids would never find anything interesting to get excited about at a boring facility full of old was moments and artifacts.  Think again!  When they get an opportunity to get up close and personal with something they may have only seen on TV or in a book, life becomes more real for them.  Not only can they see, but having an opportunity to climb up on a jeep or landing craft, or present to fire a real tank and see up close how big those jets are that they may have seen only in the skies above or on paper, it's exciting!

Little did this writer's parents know, that when they took our family of 14 on a Sunday afternoon plane ride, did they ever realize that on that one special day, seven of those young children would take that memory to heart and it would become an integal part of lifelong ambitions.  Spend more time with your kids. Bring them to the museum!

2008 American General M1123 Restoration Progress -- Your Help is Needed to Finish!

The restoration crew has once again done the impossible and taken a rusty bucket of bolts and turned it into the envy of many museums!  (See picture in header.) The transformation of the 2008 American General M1123 (Humvee) has been incredible!  The restoration pays homage to all the special forces personnel that served in the Gulf War.  This will be a "rolling display" and sure to be a favorite at local parades and events. However, the restoration crew is about $3,000 short on restoration funds to complete the project and add replica (non functional) M240 and M2 machine guns to help authenticate and finish the display.  Your donations are greatly appreciated! Please help us out and donate to the cause!  All donations to the museum are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Look What's New in the Woodland Auto Display

This 1969 Jaguar XKE Series 2 rolled into the Woodland Auto Display this past month sporting its original stock color (rather rare), plus a fiberglass top. Come on down and visit us and check out all the latest updates to the museum. PS. don't get lost when you get here because we've been doing some relocating and rearranging, and (unfortunately) a bit of sweating as we go through some improvements to our displays!

Come on down to Estrella Warbirds Museum and check out all the latest at the Woodland Auto Display buildings!
