February SPARK! Arts Ignite Learning News
SPARK! Arts Artist Residencies for February

What's new with SPARK! Arts residencies for February? This month, Alison Reintjes led 4th Graders through a Native American History & Art lesson. The Roxy Film Academy has also been working with 4th Graders at Hawthorne Elementary on a filmmaking project! Another teaching artist, Bev Beck Glueckert has been working on a Recycled Material art project at Jeannette Rankin Elementary School! We are so proud of how this 2018-2019 is going. There is no limit to arts integration possibilities in our MCPS classrooms!
The Kennedy Center Any Given Child Exchange

SPARK! Arts representatives had the opportunity to attend the (Ensuring the Arts for) Any Given Child Exchange Conference at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. "There was some amazing energy and brainstorming," Sienna Solberg, SPARK! Arts director, said of the Exchange. "It was wonderful insight to be with the other 26 Any Given Child communities, and hear their successes and challenges, and use that information as an opportunity to grow our program here in Missoula. The 27 Any Given Child sites are an extended network, working together to provide arts education to students. The Exchange was an incredible opportunity to connect and learn from one another's stories to help continue to create our own." A huge thank you to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for the continued knowledge and wisdom they provide to SPARK! Arts.

Parent Outreach

We are looking to expand our parent network by recruiting a SPARK! Arts parent liaison at each elementary school. If you are interested in helping advocate for arts education, and communicate with your school community, please contact Sienna Solberg, SPARK! Arts director, at [email protected]. Together, we can create a stronger arts education for our students!
