Langley is fortunate to have engaging teachers, a dedicated staff, a visionary administrative team and a beautifully renovated facility.
Your PTSA membership
aids this wonderful environment, providing valuable resources that supports our students and teachers throughout the year.
To name just a few of the enrichments your membership has supported, last week we were thrilled to fund these items:
- English: Membean vocabulary software and a digital download of Shakespeare’s Macbeth
- Humanities: Periodical subscriptions for Langley’s Forensics and Debate teams
- Special education: Functional skills curriculum and teaching manual
- Performing arts: Professional support for orchestra concerts and licensing for the spring theatre production
- Professional development: Grants for five teachers from the English, Social Studies and Math departments to participate in courses that enrich their teaching expertise.
Thank you for joining the Langley PTSA and supporting these activities. Haven’t gotten around to it yet? See our membership box below and use the link to sign up now!
As an adjunct to the Spirit Week and Homecoming festivities,
Langley hosted a safe driving event for students over lunch this Monday. See the story below for details, and
I wish all of you a happy and safe Homecoming weekend! See you at the festivities!

Saxons had a glimpse at the consequences of distracted driving during a program held in the Langley Cafeteria during lunch periods this Mon, Oct 22. Using virtual reality devices, simulators and games, students learned that
distracted driving comes from anything that takes attention away from the road, such as
phones, friends, music, and eating and drinking. Langley partnered with the
Art of Driving, AT&T, State Farm and
INOVA Fairfax Hospital to host the event.
|
|
In addition, as students drove from Langley’s parking lot in the afternoon,
McLean District Station police officers
stopped all cars and spoke with drivers about safe driving. The officers checked for seat belt use and handed those with buckled seat belts coupons for free french fries at
Santini’s Deli in McLean. LHS thanks the
McLean District Station and our other partners for helping with this program!

. . . that Virginia has a zero tolerance law for underage drinking?
Anyone convicted of underage drinking (blood alcohol content of 0.02 percent or higher) and driving
will
lose their driver's license for one year from the date of conviction, and receive a mandatory minimum
fine of $500 or 50 hours of community service.
