RECLAIMED LPTV SPECTRUM HELPING
T-MO TO TURN ON 600 MHz SPECTRUM HOTSPOTS!
WITH AS MUCH AS 59% OF THE SPECTRUM SOLD TO THE MOBILE CARRIERS IN THE INCENTIVE AUCTION COMING FROM 1650 OR SO DISPLACED LPTV STATIONS, THE INDUSTRY IS GLAD THE SPECTRUM IS BEING PUT TO ITS "HIGHEST & BEST USE"!
COALITION COMMENTARY
Well sure, yes, highest and best use, and T-Mobile paid a lot to obtain the spectrum usage rights for it, some $1.26/MHz-POP, or on average $7.56 per TV pop across the country. And just look at that eco-system of 600 MHz phones, and contrast that with Sinclair having a hard time getting any takers for its chips for ATSC 3.0. But we are one of the 5G's, so off we go to future. And about that $7.56/TV Pop average price, will someone tell the full power station brokers that offering $0.10 to $0.30 a pop for LPTV built facilities is not a great offer at all. So get with the program, and join the Buck A Pop Club! Remember, compared to the power output of the mobile carriers, our "low" power signals are massive, and with ATSC 3.0 the signal quality is as good as a full power today. So you licensees and permittees, don't let anyone talk down your spectrum valuation!
here is a very informative read from the folks at Wiley...
