FINAL NEWS FROM ISRAEL |
We are back from our fabulous trip to Israel. Thanks must go first and foremost to Rabbi Jay who had this vision for a Israel Trip and with his persistence and patience it came to be. Not only were able in 10 full days to see so many sites, the group of 15 also made lasting friendships as we traveled Eretz Yisroel together.
Many of you have followed along with us as I sent daily reviews and pictures of our journey. Unfortunately, the last two days, the internet program was not cooperating. I hope you enjoy seeing what we did Day 9 & 10.
DAY 10 - Our last day in the Holy Land. We visited Yad Lakashish, a unique employment project helping Jerusalem's elderly. We toured the workshops and marveled at the unique items they produce and had a opportunity to shop at the gift shop to support the program by purchasing the beautiful items there. A visit to the Mt. Herzl Cemetery was next as we saw the graves of Israel's leaders and fallen soldiers. Our final stop was at the Israel Museum to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and the model of Jerusalem in the first century.

Model of 1st Century Jerusalem |
Our farewell dinner was both joyous and sad. A wonderful time was had by all but it was hard to say goodbye to this beautiful land. A special treat was the appearance of JCC member Mark Chazin who is on a Federation Mission and to find ourselves having dinner by chance next to two JCC families; The Beckermans and The Koranskys also on a mission.
DAY 9 - Still in Jerusalem, we visited the Hadassah Hospital and learned about the Chagall Windows. Back on the bus, we traveled to Yad Vashem, where our guide led us through the crowded and intense national Holocaust exhibit. We also visited the Children's Memorial. This was followed by a tour of the new Six Day War Heritage Museum at Ammunition Hill.
