A message from the President
It's always sad when one of our members is sick or has a major medical emergency.  On Sunday, Steve Glaser, a Kavanote, singer, song writer, insurance expert, long standing member, security advisor, my favorite Brother-in-law and all around "mensch" was taken to NHRMC with a severe stroke.  At this writing, he is still in CCU, and is resting uncomfortably.  He will need several more days before he is strong enough and stable to begin the long road back through rehab and exercise, but we are all praying and sending our love to Steve and Lyne to have strength as they get through this.  Meshaberach.

The reports from the "wandering Jews" in Israel is amazing.  Rabbi Julie has sent back pictures of everyone having a wonderful time.  Smiles all around, and a little jealousy for those of us that stayed behind.

Your Board of Directors met this week and is looking forward to a good turn-out for our November 11th Congregational meeting at 4:30PM.  We will be voting on officers, as well as the Board, and although the nominating committee has chosen a slate as outlined in our by-laws, it is not too late if you want to run.  See the information below to submit your name so it can be added to the ballet.

Congratulations to Joanne Midgley our bookkeeper for the past year.  Joanne's daughter recently had a little girl, Emerson Grace, and Joanne will be leaving us to take care of Emerson.  We are very grateful for all the Joanne has done in getting our finances organized.

On that note we welcome Tina Scaramone, recently relocated to Leland from the Northeast.  Tina has already jumped into learning about all the nuances of our system including buying a dictionary to explain some of the terms.  Bookkeeping is easy, but what exactly is a "Yahrzeit".  Welcome to Bnai Israel.

Please make every effort to come to Shul this Shabbat as Emeritus Rabbi Waxman will be leading services.  Services on Friday night this week are at 8pm.

We continue to suffer from damage from both Florence and Michael and continue to work with insurance adjusters and appraisers as we submit additional claims.  Most recently we discovered that Michael destroyed the circuit board in our dishwasher, and it will have to be replaced.  Our new roof work proved to hold up to Michael, however the work done several years ago did not fare as well.  Minor repairs are taking place and will be completed shortly.

As you can see, life at Bnai Israel goes on.  We care for our members, we continue to worship, Rabbi Kozlow will be home soon and begin a new series of Lunch and Learn classes, Sisterhood and Men's Club continue to provide valuable support for the congregation, and our house is coming back together with the help of Harold and his group of volunteers, and our design team weighing all the information for restoration.  We are very fortunate.

I want to thank all of those that have sent in their pledges, checks, and Aliyah donations and urge those that have not, to do so as soon as possible.  We continue to grow and continue to reach out to those in need of help.  We need your continued support more than ever.

Shabbat Shalom,

Barry
