Track & Field 2019 Season

Greetings!

Today is our major fundraiser, Lap-A-thon event. All athletes will participate for the first half of practice. Please read details below !! This is a lot of fun as we play music and run/walk. Sub Gremlins, Gremlins, and Bantams will finish early about 7:00, Midget and Youth will finish at regular time. We encourage parents to stay and enjoy the event! The Kona ice truck will also be there for purchase!

Spikes Athletes may begin using spike shoes at practice this week. Their coaches will let them know when to put them on, They are never allowed to warm up in them. Please make sure they are on the field, if they want to use them.
If you bought new spike shoes this year, they did not come with the correct spikes. All our tracks use 3/16 NEEDLE only spikes. We will have the correct spikes at practice for $3.00 per set, they can only be bought before and after practice! please bring correct change.
I do have a small supply of used loaner spike shoes that can be borrowed for the season. You can check by the gate to see if there is a size that fits.

Fleet Feet Shoe Store will be at Practice Monday March 4th if you would like to purchase spike shoes!

Our Storm Store is still open for online orders, you can order and pay on line and it will be delivered to practice when it is ready. The Store will be open until March 16th for orders. LIz will be at practice on Monday if you would like to see the the items and purchase at practice

Uniforms - Monday - Last day to pick up TODAY! PLEASE PICK IT UP!!! You will need your uniform for our Mock Meet Saturday at Saugus High.

Parents please try to arrive 15 minutes early for pick up, in case practice ends early.
 
RAIN POLICY
If it is raining practice is canceled. However we will practice in a light sprinkle. This makes it tricky, many times it is not raining at the track when it's raining at home. Do not drop off your athlete if there is a chance for a canceled practice, please stick around
Please be sure to text STORMTF to 41411 to be added to our urgent alert system, in the event of a canceled practice, we will send a group text alert out telling parents to pick up their athlete.

Lap-A-thon
Today, Monday March 4th we will be doing our lap-a-thon during practice. We ask that all athletes arrive at 5:30. We will need 5 parents there early to help check the kids in. Parents and siblings are invited to participate too.
This is our main fundraiser and hope each family can participate. We ask each child to help raise at least $40.00 or you can opt out by donating that amount. The highest amount raised will receive season tickets to Universal Studios! We will be playing music for 35 min and counting the laps each athlete does. Click here for the form You can choose a flat rate donation or a per lap donation and collect and turn in at practice after the event. We will also have the Kona Ice truck there for you to purchase an icy if you want!!

Kona Ice will be at the practice tonight, please bring some dollars if you would like to purchase after the lap-a-thon.
Mock Meet Information
This weekend is the Mock Practice Meet. We use this to get a beginning time for all the athletes, but more importantly we use this to train you and our staff on how to run a meet. There are no ribbons or records for this meet, as it is still practice but the results will be posted.

Below is a schedule of our mock meet, we won’t be able to do all events, but we will try to do as many as we can between 8:00 am – 12:30 pm.

When Athletes arrive go to center of field and then to team tents for check in and get labels

Parent go to Stands to find out about Volunteer opportunities & training.

We will be using the sign up genius for volunteering. We will explain all the jobs and how to sign up.!

Be sure your child brings water
We will not set up a water table for this meet.
Make sure your child wears their uniform.

1. Twentyfive Score Card
The 25 Score Cards are available at practice for $20.00 each. They are a discount card to local businesses, See the Passport below or download the app below. Most Families can save up to $300.00 per year using the card at businesses.

2. Lap-a-thon
Our lap-a-thon fund raiser will be held on March 4th at Saugus High School during practice. PLEASE ARRIVE AT 5:30 FOR CHECK IN We will need parents to help check in the athletes and give them a chip to count their laps. Parents and siblings are invited to run also! We will have practice after the lap-a-thon for MIdget and Youth only all others will finish about 7:00 Midget and youth will finish at regular time.
 
3. California Pizza Kitchen
Our California Pizza Kitchen fund raiser will be on March 21st all day. We will have a flyer that you must take with you and give to them at the time you order. Dine In or Take Out, enjoy a great meal!!

Picture Day Schedule

Due to the size of our team we will have the athletes arrive in shifts. If you have kids in multiple age groups you should arrive at the earliest time. Group shots will be taken at the time on the schedule, but if you can not be there at that time you can come anytime during the morning and get an individual shot taken. Your child must be present to be in the group picture. There will be a day scheduled later for make up pictures at practice.
Each athletes should pick up a card with their name on it when they arrive. The have to have this to get their picture taken.

ALL ATHLETES SHOULD ARRIVE IN THEIR UNIFORM

We will need a few parent for each age group to help hand out cards and help keep the athletes in order but, there will be no parents allowed on the field during the pictures, also laps will not be permitted to keep the background clear.
