It is an honor and privilege to have been selected as the new CEO of the Escondido Chamber of
Commerce, your Chamber. I look forward to meeting all members of our community not only our business community but all the people who make Escondido what it is today.
I write this on my 2nd day here at the Chamber and I am fortunate to have the opportunity to interface and download the various undertakings and programs the Chamber is currently involved with from outgoing Chamber leader Rorie Johntson. Rorie and I have known each for a relatively brief amount of time but it's been enough time to see what impact she has made here at the Chamber and Escondido. Her insights and willingness to help me with my transition as the new leader of the Chamber is invaluable. I thank our Board for moving in an expeditious manner on this recruitment which allows me this time with Rorie and the staff. She's not gone yet, and she has assured me that she is but a short call away for any questions I will undoubtedly have as I embrace and look to build on the great foundation she, the staff and volunteers have built at your Chamber.
This Chamber has a rich and storied history over the last 108+ years here in Escondido and it is with a sense of our history but with a vision of the future that I bring to the Chamber. I strive to be a person of character, a connector of people and ideas. I look to earn the trust and support of the businesses which make up the Chamber and forge stronger relations with our local government officials. I will be an advocate to all within and beyond our community of Escondido highlighting the value of doing business in Escondido.
The value of your Chamber must continually grow in order to survive and earn your support. We will become an even greater asset to all businesses and forge new relationships throughout all of San Diego highlighting what makes Escondido so special.
I invite you to contact me with your ideas and together we can begin a new chapter in the history of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce.
Thank you,
James Rowten (JR)

Member Spotlight
Patrick Stone, Stone Medical Group
Nearly ten years ago Patrick Stone was seriously injured in a construction accident.
After over a year of surgeries, rehab, and physical therapy, he recovered the use of
his leg and discovered what he wanted to do for the rest of his life - helping others
the way he had been helped.
After graduating with academic distinction as a Professional Certified Massage
Therapist, Patrick decided to open his own practice in Escondido. Stone Medical Group is
now in its seventh year at 1299 E. Pennsylvania Ave, Suite A.
Patrick enjoys helping people feel better every day, improving range of motion,
quality of sleep and alleviating pain. At Stone Medical Group the focus is on identifying and solving the root cause of each patient's problem. Stone Medical Group's practice has grown by referrals from both physicians and satisfied customers because of Stone's success in resolving patients' chronic pain and range of motion issues.
At Stone Medical Group there are two sayings exemplifying how they strive to improve the health of their patients: Pain is not a lifestyle...Everybody deserves to feel better!

Keeping Promises, Spending Wisely
The Governor just released his "May Revise," which updates the preliminary budget he released in January to serve as a discussion starter leading up to the legislative deadline for final budget approval on June 15th.
There's a lot to like in the Governor's
$214 billion budget proposal. First of all, raising the child tax credit to help families cope with our skyrocketing cost of living deserves support. And with California's population expected to expand to 50 million by 2030, decades-old infrastructure including dams, reservoirs and water
conveyance systems that were built for half our current population are rapidly becoming obsolete. Dedicating part of California's $21.5 billion surplus toward one-time investments in infrastructure makes a lot of sense.
