On Tuesday, Mount Marty College announced plans to construct a new fieldhouse on the college’s campus in Yankton. Construction of the fieldhouse is slated to begin in the spring of 2019.
The $15 million, 100,000 square foot fieldhouse, which is scheduled for completion in July of 2020, promises to be a showpiece on the MMC campus as well as a hotbed of activity for community and collegiate events. The facility will offer a host of elements including a 74,000 square foot event space with a 200-meter, eight-lane track as well as a 7,500 square foot weight training and fitness facility which will be open to both the MMC and Yankton community members through a proposed partnership with GreatLIFE.

National Consumer Protection Week
, and NorthWestern Energy is continuing its efforts to educate customers on how they can guard against falling victim to imposter utility scams.
“Our Customer Service Representatives receive calls every week from customers reporting scam activity,” said NorthWestern Energy Director of Customer Interaction John Thurmond. “This is a terrible and expensive crime and the more we can do to raise awareness the better it is for all of us.”
NorthWestern Energy is a member of Utilities United Against Scams, a consortium of 125 U.S. and Canadian electric, water, and natural gas companies and their respective trade associations, which works across the industry with regulators, law enforcement, and other telecommunications partners to stop scams targeting utility customers.
In 2018, UUAS and its member companies helped to shut down more than 2,000 toll-free numbers used by scammers to target utility customers. NorthWestern Energy has successfully shutdown hundreds of the numbers with the help of customers who report the phone numbers would-be scammers tell them to call back on to make a “payment.”
“We report that number and the carrier is notified,” said Thurmond. “There is an investigation and if the number is being used for fraud, it is shut down.”

Your chart of accounts will reflect your entire operation which is why it is considered the backbone of your bookkeeping system. Accounting software usually comes with a preset list of accounts but, as your businesses grows, you will need to modify your list. But only set up accounts that you need and don’t over categorize. Keep them generic.

The business community assembled in Pierre to learn about the issues facing the legislature and had the opportunity to talk to the public servants who make the ultimate decisions on those issues.

The Yankton School District School Board regular meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in the YSD Administration Building unless otherwise arranged.
The Yankton City Commission meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7 pm in the RTEC City of Yankton Community Room, 1200 W. 21st Street.
The Yankton County Commissioners meet the first and third Tuesday of the every month at 4 pm in the Commission's Meeting Room of Government Center.
