 Bodhisattva Peace Training Weekend

For the power of peace to touch every person, community and nation on this earth , it must radiate out from a profound peace within our own minds. The Bodhisattva Peace Training, developed by Tibetan meditation master H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, makes accessible to people of all religions and walks of life the profound methods of the Mahayana Buddhist tradition for awakening the positive qualities of wisdom and compassion—the basis of enduring peace—inherent in each of us. There are no prerequisites for the Bodhisattva Peace Training weekend retreat.

Lama Shenpen Drolma was ordained as a lama in 1996 by her teacher, Tibetan meditation master H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche. She is resident lama at Iron Knot Ranch in New Mexico, where she is developing the Bodhisattva Peace Institute for Bodhisattva Peace Training. She has taught the Bodhisattva Peace Training widely since 1991.
Bodhisattva Peace Institute Immersion Series

The BPI Immersion series is sequential. The series begins with a weekend Bodhisattva Peace Training, followed by the Change of Heart Immersion, and then the sequentially numbered Bodhicitta Immersions I-VIII. Each new teaching assumes that the student has a deep familiarity with the meditations and practices taught in previous ones.

Attendance at all Bodhicitta Immersions is by permission only. Lama Shenpen grants permission based on students’ having thoroughly reviewed and practiced the Immersions they have previously attended. For those who cannot travel it may be possible to attend a ranch immersion by phone, assuming you’ve established a personal relationship with Lama Shenpen ahead of time.

For practice and review purposes, hyperlinks to audio recordings of any Bodhicitta Immersion are available to those who attended that Immersion. You can request the links by emailing Mercy at recordings@ironknot.org .

Bodhicitta Immersion I

Immersion I helps us to recognize, in the context of our own minds, how we generate and proliferate the cycles of suffering when we stray from the Four Immeasurable Qualities, and how giving rise to bodhicitta interrupts the cycle of suffering and creates the basis for short- and long-term benefit for ourselves and others.
Registration

The cost of the Bodhisattva Peace Training —which includes food, facilities, and housing—will be $120-$180 for the weekend retreat (sliding-scale based on ability to pay).

The cost of the Immersion I retreat will be $350-$490 (sliding-scale based on ability to pay) . Chagdud Gonpa Foundation membership and Iron Knot Ranch sponsorship discounts apply. We will do whatever we can, through partial scholarships and work trade, to make these events financially feasible for everyone who wants to participate.

To help us keep costs as low as possible and to support participants’ accumulation of merit, we ask that everyone join the ranch staff in a daily work activity.

Please register by October 15 for either or both of these events. Your early registration is a great
help to us in planning. To register or for further information, please contact events@ironknot.org
or call (510) 315-1960.

May all beings benefit!
