Thanks to e. E. Charlton-Trujillo, author of Fat Angie and co-founder of Never Counted Out, an organization that seeks to empower at-risk youth through writing and the arts, 48 new teen novels have been donated to the MMS/FHS library. Diverse characters and situations are a part of these added titles as it is important for all teens to be able to see themselves in the books they read. Please encourage students to stop by the library and check out our display, or better yet - a book!

On Election Day this past month, an awesome group of 18 seniors worked at various polling locations throughout the Cleveland area. I just got the feedback from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and it was GLOWING, including reports like:
"The kids from Fairview High School were all friendly and willing to help when needed."
"Great team of workers."
"Great group - loved the help of the students."
So thank you to the students who represented FHS so well and thank you to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections for providing such a unique opportunity for our kids to participate in our democracy!

Polaris will be presenting to our 10th grade English classes on either December 13th or the 21st. Programs and application procedures will be discussed. On January 16th those students interested can visit Polaris. Permission slip is required and can be obtained in the counseling office after December 13th. Please direct any questions to Mrs. Walsh.
