Squire Picnic - Grades 3rd, 4th & 5th - Sun., Oct. 28
Delone Catholic HS Student Council is hosting the annual Squire Picnic for students in grades third, fourth and fifth at J.T. Flaherty Field on Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1-4 p.m. This is a fun-filled afternoon with lots of games, crafts, hamburgers, hot dogs and prizes. This is a great way for area grade school students to experience our Delone Catholic family and meet students from other area schools. Students do not have to attend a Catholic school to participate. We encourage your son or daughter to bring his or her friends. Please read and complete the parent letter and permission form. Important Financial Aid Seminar for Senior Parents
On November 5, 2018, Delone Catholic will be hosting a financial aid seminar hosted by Angela Buchanan-Bloch, Campus Director of Financial Aid at H.A.C.C.  This seminar will be of special interest to senior parents, especially those sending a student to college for the first time.  Discussion topics will include: completion of the FAFSA ( Free Application for Federal Student Aid)  form needed to receive federal/state aid, filling out the  CSS, the College Scholarship Search Profile, required by some colleges to qualify for scholarships at their school, and  how to access other scholarship opportunities.  These topics are relevant for students attending any college, not just H.A.C.C.  The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria.  Ms. Buchanan-Boch will be available for questions at the conclusion of her presentation.  All senior parents are encouraged to attend.

Naviance - Connecting Learning to Life
The Guidance Office is pleased to announce the addition of Naviance. Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution that helps districts and schools align student strengths and interests to postsecondary goals, improving student outcomes and connecting learning to life. This program will be rolled out to the different grade levels during Religion class. Please click here to watch a video that explains this program.

Teacher Appreciation Contest
La-Z-Boy is holding a Teacher Appreciation contest where students or adults can nominate a teacher to win $7500 in La-Z-Boy furniture!  This is for the teacher's home, not the classroom.  The best part is the winning teacher's school gets $5000 in La-Z-Boy furniture!  This can be used for furniture for the school or as a fundraiser prize.  The nominator even receives $2500.  If the nominator is under 18 the prize is given to the parent/guardian.

This contest is only open to teachers in the following Central Pennsylvania counties, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York so the odds of winning are very high!

Job Opportunity - Custodian
Delone Catholic HS has an immediate opening for a full-time custodian. Duties include responsibility for the daily operations and custodial maintenance of buildings and grounds for Delone Catholic HS under direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Principal. External maintenance may include trimming bushes, mowing, shoveling as necessary. Must be team oriented and comfortable working in an environment where discretion is necessary and able to work with custodial supplies and equipment in addition to opening, closing and preparing areas for use as needed. This position requires a valid Pennsylvania driver's license, medical examination/TB test as per Pennsylvania law, all necessary PA and Diocesan Youth Protection clearances which are the responsibility of the applicant and do not ensure employment. Diocese of Harrisburg 150th Anniversary Celebration
As you may know the Diocese of Harrisburg is celebrating its 150th anniversary at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC on Saturday, November 3, 2018. St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover is sponsoring a bus and has seats available. The bus departs from St. Joseph Church at 6:30 a.m. The day includes Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Ronald Gainer, Confession, Adoration, Rosary and Divine Mercy recitation. The bus leaves the Basilica at 4:30 p.m. Bring your own lunch or eat in the cafeteria. The cost is $25 per person (checks should be made out to St. Joseph Church and pilgrimage noted). Intentions for Adoration
Every Friday, the Mary, Queen of Peace Chapel is open for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and our students would like to use that time to pray for your intentions. Please use this form to submit any intentions that you have so that a student can choose an intention to pray for specifically during their time at Adoration. 

Fireside Catholic Publishing Scholarship
All seniors are invited to apply for the Fireside Catholic Publishing Scholarship, which recognizes high school seniors who put their faith into action daily with a $1,000 cash award. Applicants should write an essay of no more than 750 words on the topic "How is your religious education influencing your life?" From among the applicants, one will be chosen by a committee of Delone Catholic teachers to represent our school at the national level. Essays need to be submitted to Mrs. Phenicie by Nov. 1.

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!

Our virtue this week is DETERMINATION - The strength to stay on course, resist temptation and concentrate on your objective. Our season is almost over and we all want to finish strong.

Protocol for Delone Catholic Football Games
To further promote the safety of all of our guests at Delone Catholic during football games, ball play will be restricted to the area next to the home bleachers closest to the intersection of South Street and S. 6th Street.  Please note, rough play is not permitted and young children must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

As a reminder, the only entrances to the stadium are located along Delone Avenue and the ticket booth next to the concession stand along side of South  Street.

Youth Events at Immaculate Heart of Mary
Everyone is welcome to attend the following upcoming event at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Abbottsown:
  • Saturday night, Oct. 27, from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m., we are having a special Festival of Praise Holy Hour. It's open to all people, not just teens. It will feature Eucharistic Adoration, a special Scripture reading and homily, and worship music provided by INFUSED!, IHM's worship band.
