October Giving Items
Giving items for the month of October are
Mac n Cheese for the Mission of Hope. Your donations may be left at the back entrance near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.

Trunk or Treat
 SUMC is excited to host a trunk or
treat on Sunday, October 28th,
12:00 - 1:30 at the Shueyville Community Center parking lot across the street from SUMC. If you would like to be a part of this event, there will be a sign-up sheet in the lobby of the church. If you have questions, you may contact Mike Jones.

Crop Hunger Walk
Thanks to those who joined in on the Crop Hunger Walk.
There is still time to make donations. Checks should be made out to CROP.

Save the Date!
 This year our Christmas Program is going to be a little different. Our youth will be joining our younger children for a performance of A Star Is Born. Mark your calendars for Sunday, December 23rd, at our 9:15 a.m. service in the Family Life Center.

Thanksgiving Baskets
 Donations are being accepted for Thanksgiving Baskets. Non-perishable items are welcome as well as cash donations to purchase fruits and vegetables. Your donations may be left at the back entrance near the Welcome Center. Thank you for your generosity.

Lord Acre Sale Reminders
 There are items from the silent auctions which have not yet been picked up. If you have not done so, please pick your item up at your earliest convenience. If you are not sure and think one may be yours, please contact the church office. Also, there is corn left for any one who would like to purchase some and there are dishes and other kitchen items that were left as well. If you think you may have left yours, please check the kitchen and coat closet for your items.

Orchids Are A Scream!
 The Eastern Iowa Orchid Club is a
community organization that meets at SUMC monthly. They are sponsoring an Orchid Show and Sale "Orchids Are a Scream!" This event will be Saturday, October 27, 10:00-5:00 and Sunday, October 28, 10:00-4:00 at the Elks Lodge Hall, 801 33rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids. The show is free and family friendly.

Fellowship Hosts Needed
 Please consider becoming a Fellowship Host one Sunday a month after the 8:00 or 9:15 service or on the 5th Sunday of the month when they occur. Please say YES to Sheila Stepanek and contact her at [email protected] or by phone at 319-538-6750. You may also contact the church office.

Coordinating Our Building Use
Are you needing a place at the church for a committee meeting or event? Please note that ALL scheduling of the building's use must be cleared and scheduled through Julie in the church office. This is not a "permission" issue, but we do need this central location for keeping track of the building's activities (we are thankful to be able to host a growing number of Boy and Girl Scouts this year!). Just
