Happy Holidays!
From the DWIH New York Team, happy holidays and a happy new year!

We'll keep this newsletter short and sweet, celebrating our biggest accomplishments this year, rounding up our 2018 events and giving you a sneak peak of what's ahead.

Sincere thanks to all our readers for your continued support of transatlantic collaboration on research and innovation. Alongside our main supporters and partners, it is those who read our communications and attend our events to whom we are most indebted.

We are looking forward to an exciting new year with you!

-Gerrit, Nadja, Jarred and Louisa

New Websites Year-in-Review

2018 brought us two new websites. In June the five German Centers for Research and Innovation launched a collective network website at  dwih-netzwerk.de/en. Our personal site, dwih-newyork.org, went live in October. In case you haven't yet checked it out, visit for more information about our team, events, newsletter and social media, our latest news articles and more.

In October our director Nina Lemmens, who had directed the DWIH New York since 2014, left us to begin a position on the Executive Board of the Joachim Herz Foundation in Germany. Replacing her as director of the DWIH New York and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) North America will be Benedikt Brisch, who will start in January 2019.

New Twitter Handle Year-in-Review

You can now find us on Twitter under the handle  @DWIH_NY . The change away from @GCRI_NY represents the final step in our rebranding in closer alignment with all German Centers for Research and Innovation (Deutsche Wissenschafts- und Innovationshaueser) worldwide

This year we held 22 events in New York and 6 others in cities across the U.S. Thanks to all of you who made it out to participate with us.

We freshened things up in 2018 by taking our events outside of the German Consulate building and into new venues like startup accelerators and innovation labs across NYC.

In case you are curious what we got into this year, here is a list!

A Look into the Future Future

Our 2019 focus topic will be Artifi cial Intelligence. We will be planning a number of events and publications around this topic, including the first installment of what will become an annual conference, this year focusing on AI. Keep an eye out for future updates.

We also plan to revamp our newsletter in 2019. Soon will be soliciting your opinions, so start thinking about what you like and what you want to want to see!
