Commemorating Memorial Day Every Day at Blue Island's Memorial Park

Memorial Park in Blue Island was dedicated on May 30, 1922, as a perpetual commemoration of the lives and deeds of veterans of war. On Monday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m., join American Legion Post 50 at Memorial Park for their annual salute to those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

67th Annual Golf Outing
Held at the Meadows Golf Club in Blue Island, the 67th Annual Blue Island Chamber Golf Outing is a great way to support the Chamber's new Civic Scholarship program, connect with valued clients and employees, and network with fellow business owners and city officials.

Fire Museum

Community Yard Sale
Shop, sell or do both at Blue Island Park District's annual community yard sale. Booths are available for rental but you must visit the park district office in advance to reserve your spot. General parking and admission are free.

This Sunday, Blue Island Beer Company hosts Ride To The Brew with Truett. Celebrate Memorial Day weekend with a motorcycle ride to Blue Island Beer Company. Enjoy reserved parking and a musical journey with Truett from Mississippi Delta to Prince's Minneapolis, Chicago blues to Bowery Punk, down through Outkast's Atlanta and out the other side of the psychedelic rabbit hole. A generous portion of the proceeds will be donated to the CFD Gold Badge Society to assist families of fallen firefighters. $25 at the door includes first beer.

MBL All-Star Game
Blue Island Park District Men's Baseball League (MBL) will host the second annual All-Star Game featuring the league's most valuable players. Parking and admission are free.

Blue Cap Food Pantry Information
Blue Cap offers a Food Pantry serving Blue Island and Robbins residents who provide a valid ID or piece of mail proving residency. The Food Pantry is open on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Collection boxes for Blue Cap's Food Pantry can be found at the Blue Island Library, 2433 York St., First Midwest Bank, 12015 S. Western Ave., Council Oak Montessori School, 2521 Grove St., John D. Rita Rec Center, 2805 141st St., and Access Family Health, 13000 Maple Ave., Blue Island, IL 60406.

They accept non-perishable food, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, disposable razors, toilet paper, tissue, laundry detergent, dish soap, multi-purpose cleaners, disinfectant wipes, and baby diapers and wipes.
