Alliance for Iowa State
- Make Your Voice Heard -

When Iowa State University travels to Des Moines for ISU Day at the Capitol, Wednesday, March 6, don't expect a typical visit - because Iowa State is not a typical university.

In a wave of cardinal and gold, Iowa State researchers, faculty, students, alumni, and partners will demonstrate and share information about university innovations and creative problem solving - and say thank you for the appropriations that support fulfilling our land-grant mission.

Legislators and other visitors to the rotunda will experience the spirit of entrepreneurship that thrives at Iowa State. They'll embark on a campus adventure by roller coaster, an all-out attack on superbugs, and cancer cells captured and held hostage. They'll learn how to turn their world into a keyboard and explore a vacation island for pollinators, while sampling the flavors of business start-ups. They can experiment with the tools that faculty, extension staff, and students use to stimulate future inventors and entrepreneurs. And they can talk to people involved in groundbreaking research and education that improves business practices as well as the lives of Iowans.

These engaging experiences demonstrate innovative products and concepts developed at Iowa State, ones that deal with important issues such as water quality challenges, precision farming, and how to deal with antimicrobial resistance, cancer, and Parkinson's disease.

The Iowa Staters attending ISU Day at the Capitol will include Iowans who graduated from Iowa State with both a degree and a business. They represent the university, as well as the 109,000 Iowa State graduates living in Iowa and contributing to the state's economy. They'll share their Iowa State experiences; their stories are a sampling of potential conversations to be had with engineers, teachers, farmers, and other ISU graduates who apply Iowa State education and connections to real needs and issues of everyday Iowans.

Iowa State University encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. This is how we create, share, and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place. It's our land grant mission in action.
