Nearly 700 homeless children and families from Dallas-area shelters experienced the magic of the holidays at Rainbow Days' annual Saturday with Santa event. On Dec. 8, Rainbow Days was delighted to host families from 17 different shelters, transitional living sites and motels in our community for a meaningful family bonding experience held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.  Each child left with a stocking filled with presents and a brand new toy for Christmas, and all parents also received necessities and holiday treats in stockings of their very own. 

Many individuals, corporations and local organizations helped make this day possible through financial gifts, in-kind donations and volunteer hours. Rainbow Days is especially grateful for the support of: Lovers Lane United Methodist Church; The Rees-Jones Foundation; Chuy's (Knox-McKinney location); Citi; PepsiCo; National Charity League; Young Men's Service League; Texas A&M DFW Hispanic Network; Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs; Nicole Williams; Diane Oxley and Christian Stringer; Susan O'Suilleabhain and Clare Ni'Shuilleabhain; Liz Case Pickens; and countless other kind-hearted donors, volunteers and supporters.

Our Community Connection team has been working hard to bring holiday cheer to the children they serve weekly in local schools. We are SO proud to say that over 1,000 kids in local schools will be receiving gifts from Rainbow Days this holiday season!

This exciting project was made possible thanks to the dedication of the Rainbow Days Executive Board of Directors and many other generous donors. We are so grateful to have such passionate support for this project, which has enabled us to bring Christmas and the magic of the holidays to so many children in need this holiday season!

On Dec. 7 , we were so excited to bring 30 kids from local shelters and motels to a special event hosted by the Dallas Mavericks ! The kids spent an evening at The Statler hotel's Scout restaurant, where they had the magical opportunity to eat dinner, play games and hang out with the stars of the team. Additionally, each child received an  individualized Christmas gift  from the players! What a fun night!

This holiday season, Rainbow Days is working to bring Christmas gifts and the magic of the holidays to over 2,000 at-risk and/or homeless children and youth in our community through our Family Connection, Community Connection and Project Hope programs.
