IPOs
China asserted its power with U.S. IPOs this past week of Chinese companies Tencent Music Entertainment and 360 Finance, bringing the tally to 25 China public listings in New York during the first three quarters of 2018 -- despite heightened U.S.-China economic tensions.  The number tops any full-year total since 2010, notes IPO tracker Renaissance Capital.
Tencent Music grabbed the headlines by raising $1.1 billion at a valuation of $21.3 billion.

  FUNDS
Sequoia Capital China is raising a seed fund of undisclosed size for investing in Chinese startups, according to a SEC filing.

Hubspot is launching a $30 million fund for "customer-first" startups in India.
 
STARTUP NEWS
Starbucks will start delivering coffee in the U.S. through a partnership with UberEats. Funny thing is that Starbucks started doing this first a few months earllier in China with Alibaba's Ele.me delivery service. In China's large cities, Starbucks customers skip the line, click on a smartphone app to order and pay, and grab their favorite brew while it's still hot via  Ele.me speedy couriers.
Up until now, this on-demand service would not be possible on Main Street USA. But here is just the latest example of where the future is already here, in China, while the U.S. lags behind.

American entrepreneurs who flocked to China to start their own businesses are heading home. This article in WSJ (in case you missed it) features founder Steve Mushero of ChinaNetCloud, who has been on stage more than once at Silicon Dragon in Shanghai.   
  
PEOPLE
  Neil Shen, the chief of Sequoia Capital China, will step down as a board member at instant messaging platform Momo, which was caught in a data leak scandal. A co-founder of Alibaba, Yongming (Eddie) Wu, will step in.    
 
DCM Ventures promotes two of its VC investors to  partners: Kyle Lui in the U.S. and Ray Zhao in China.   

DEALS
Tencent backer Naspers leads $540 million funding of Indian education startup Gyju.   

Sequoia Capital China led a Series A financing of China's self-driving startup HoloMatic.
     
SAIF, Nexus and Sequoia India put $21 million in edtech startup Unacademy in India.

Qiming Ventures invests in FirstGrid, a Chinese medical supply management platform.
  
Ally Bridge leads $17 million A round in Chinese biotech startup GenFleet Therapeutics

  VC RANKINGS
Forbes China published its annual list of top 100 venture capitalists in China.  Qiming Venture Partners nabbed five spots on the list: Duane King, William Hu, Nisa Leung, Helen Wong and Yong Zhang.
