Links to Haiti Benefit
at the Cream Co Studio
1100 N. Cermak Rd, Flr. 5 (elevator bldg)
Tuesday, November 13, 2018 | 6:30pm-9pm
Price: $100

Since 2010, Links Hall has been developing a cultural and artistic dance and music exchange between Chicago and Haiti and now we are excited to bring artists and art lovers to Haiti this December. Because everyone can't join the trip, Links Hall and Carrefour Collaborative invite anyone who is curious about the sights, sounds, and tastes of Haiti to the  Cream Co Studio for an exciting evening.

The program will feature a screening of a documentary by Haitian filmmaker Keziah Jean that follows Madan Previllon, a mother of 12, and her journeys to bring fruits and vegetables to market between the countryside and the capital Port-au-Prince.  After the screening, there will be a special performance by  Psalm One and Ayanna Woods . Psalm One first went to Haiti with the Carrefour Collaborative in 2014 to work with local musicians to record new music and teach them tools of the trade of the music business.

"I was fortunate in my career to have people help me out when I needed it," she said. "It wasn't a pity thing. It was just saying, 'Hey, I believe in you and you're working hard let's help you out.' When I was in Haiti that's how I felt." - Psalm One

The Links to Haiti benefit is your chance to echo Psalm One and help out the hard work of  Haiti Dans Co/Dance To Save Lives.  Founder and Artistic Director Dieufel Lamisere created Dance To Save Lives in Haiti to help homeless youth with essential and cultural resources, safe space, and the opportunity to grow as creative human beings. Links Hall is hoping to raise $10,000 through this benefit and the Links to Haiti trip for their important work.

Come out and learn more about Haiti, meet wonderful artists and support dance that is literally saving lives!
