Black History Month was a Success!
We experienced another successful week here at Tangelo Park Elementary. The month of February was Black History Month and kudos to all of our teachers and students for their many contributions and educational experiences. A special thank you to all of our parents, friends, students, faculty and staff, and community supporters for all of your participation and making our annual black history program a huge success.

2019 Parent Survey
The AdvancedEd Survey is still open for all parents to write and express their comments and/or concerns to help support and recommend suggestions as we continue to work towards building capacity and improving the climate, school safety procedures, and educational success here at Tangelo Park Elementary. Parents, we need your support by completing our AdvancedEd Parent Survey.  We have extended our deadline to next Friday, March 8, 2019. Thank you for your help.

Teacher Spotlight
Mr. Galan - Parent Engagement Liaison

Q: How long have you been a teacher?  How long at TPES?
A: I have been in education for 15 years. (OCPS - 7 years and Tangelo Park Elementary - 1 year)

Q: Where did you graduate from college?
A: I graduated from Universidad Metropolitana P.R.

Q: What is your favorite part about being a teacher?
A: My favorite part about being a Parent Engagement Liaison is that I love the connection with families and able to help them with their needs. My favorite part about teaching is that I love looking at the children's faces and how they glow with excitement when they learn something new. Their smiles make my day. Also, I love it when they take things to the next level using what they have learned and apply it to a new topic.

Q: What book is your favorite book?
A: I really like The Lorax by Dr. Suess because I love gardening and the environment. The need to save our planet is high. The story behind the book is awesome! I suggest that you search for it.

Q: Hobbies, interests?
A: I love gardening and riding horses. I also love to cook. I like reading about new recipes and trying to make them.

Mr. Galan is a graduate of the Universidad Metropolitana P.R. His favorite book (right) happens to be by Dr. Seuss - "The Lorax" - and he highly recommends it!

"The Golden Table"
Catching the winner behaviors by our Tigers . . .

Mrs. Hagy's third grade class earned a Golden Table celebration for their continued good behavior in the cafeteria. Great effort Tigers!
