Principal Message:  April 7, 2018
D ear Parents,

We had a fantastic Leopard Live this morning celebrating our students for being great leaders and celebrating our students for having strong character in the area of trustworthiness.  As you know, part of the Lovejoy Graduate Profile is working for justice through community service.  This morning we got to see this in action when our third graders presented ACO with a check for $2000 from their restaurant. Every year our third graders create, manage, and run a restaurant on their own to raise money for a cause.  Another example of community service  that we saw this morning was Jocelyn Chapman and Lauren Perry presenting ACO with a check for $400 from money that they raised from their company Motive8 Kids Boutique.  Lastly, we had a ribbon cutting ceremony acknowleging the hard work that our students, parents and staff did for us to raise the money for our shade structure.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page for the video. These are just small examples of how we work on the graduate profile each and every day.   It is definitely a great time to be a Lovejoy Leopard.
I look forward to seeing most of you tomorrow night at Denim and Diamonds "Lone Starry Night."  This is another great example of our community coming together to support the Foundation for Lovejoy Schools.
As always, if you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

NEW! 3rd & 4th Grade STAAR Snack List
As we prepare for STAAR testing, we want to set our students up for success.  We are requesting that each student bring two snacks on testing days. The following snacks are suitable to send with your child on STAAR days: Pretzels
  • Crackers (EX: Goldfish, Cheez-Its, etc)
  • Raisins
  • Cheese Sticks
  • Grapes
  • Apples
Please do not send any snacks or drinks that could leave a stain on the test, such as Cheetos, soft drinks, or red juices.  Stains on the testing material could prevent the test from being scored properly.

As a reminder, please be mindful of food allergies; therefore, we are requesting that you do not send snacks that have nuts in them.  Thank you for your help with this!

NEW! A Note From Transportation
School transportation is a privilege and bus safety regulations must be followed. School principals are responsible for the student while on the bus and reserve the right to resolve discipline problems that occur between home and the school. Bus drivers are charged with maintaining proper student conduct which may include assigning individual seats. Students are expected to conduct themselves on buses in the same manner as in the classroom.

With the continued growth of our community, bus ridership has also grown. The majority of our afternoon routes are at or near bus capacity. Therefore, transportation will not be able to accommodate students ridding the bus home with other when the student is not assigned to the bus route. This would include sending your child home on another student's bus for play dates, sleep over's, group projects, sports practices, etc.

In the rare instance that you have a last minute emergency and need your child to ride the bus home with someone else, please call your child's school to get permission so the school can inform the bus driver of the change.

New! Final Box Tops Contest
Each unexpired Box Top is worth 10 cents for our school! Think of those little Box Tops as dimes just waiting to be collected! Simply clip the Box Tops from the items you already have (making sure that the product code and expiration date are visible), put them in a zip top baggie with your teacher's name on it, and drop them in either of the big BOX TOP collection boxes we have near the office or the library. The homeroom with the most submissions gets a popsicle party! Our final deadline for this year is May 4th.
