Gambare: Experiences of
Japanese Canadians
Friday November 2, 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Gambare loosely translates as hang tough, try your best, go for it. This presentation will briefly look at the history of the Japanese in Canada, address the impact on the community of mass wartime incarceration, and look at the rebuilding of 'Nikkei' lives after the war. The presentation also includes short films created by Connie Kadota and Lucy Komori about Japanese Canadians from a sansei (3rd generation) perspective. Registration required.

The Library offers several volunteering opportunities for teens and tweens. Join our Teen Advisory Council, Tween Advisory Group, or the Teen Art and Promotion Group. Join the Read Along program, or help with library events!

Fake News:
Information in the Digital Age
Saturday, November 3, 1 - 4 p.m.

For grades 7 - 9. In a constantly changing and aggressive media landscape, it is increasingly difficult to decide which information is trustworthy. To help clear it up, the North Vancouver City Library, in partnership with The Cinematheque, presents this hands-on workshop for teens to learn about fake news by creating their own. Registration required
