McMeen is an awesome school with caring teachers and school leaders. Our staff works diligently each day to put students first each day. At McMeen, we are working hard to change the narrative about McMeen in our own community. Parent Satisfaction Surveys:
Your input is so valuable to us! Parent Satisfaction Surveys are going home Monday, April 9th and should be returned to school or mailed by April 13th.
Please fill out the Parent Satisfaction Survey. You can either mail it directly yourself or return it to school and we will mail it for you. Attached to each Parent Satisfaction Survey is a Record Survey Form. Please be sure to send the "record form" back to the school with your students, whether you mail it yourself or return to the school, we would like to see how many Parent Satisfaction Surveys we have completed.
The class that returns the most completion forms will win an ice cream party.

From the Family Leadership
Institute
:
Denver Public School is encouraging families, community members and liaisons to attend the next Family Leadership Institute from 9:15-11:15 a.m. on April 12 at the Park Hill Golf Club. Family Leadership Institutes promote academic partnerships and leadership through interactive sessions that bring families from across the district together to enhance their advocacy skills at home, school and the district level. The topic for this session is organizing others. Attendees will learn about the organizing cycle, advocacy at the school level, school and district success, and English Language Acquisition District-wide Advisory Committee board elections. Food, childcare and interpretation services will be provided at no additional cost. Families can register here. If you have questions, email Lilian Pacheco.
McMeen Community Garden:
Calling all families and staff who would like a garden plot in the McMeen Community Garden! We have new Community Garden Leaders this year and they are seeking families, staff, neighbors and community members to be a part of the garden. There are nine plots left and it would be great to have as many staff and families as possible. It is a great way to connect with our community, grow your own organic vegetables and flowers AND contribute to a beautiful outdoor space on the McMeen Campus! Classrooms:
Room 214's learning came to life when Mrs. Claypool and Mrs. Zeina collaborated in creating a project for students to use what they researched and wrote about. Students created different landforms, from mountains to waterfalls. They had a blast creating and learning about landforms and couldn't wait to take them home to share with their families.
CMAS Testing Starts This Week:
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will take their state assessments (CMAS PARCC) during the month of April.
One of the most important things you can do to ensure your child's success is make sure they are at school on time every day during the testing window (April 9-April 27). Students who complete their testing on time will join our PTO sponsored CMAS celebration on Friday, April 27. They will enjoy ice cream sundaes and a dance party.
If you have any questions leading up to the test, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We want each of our students to have the best possible experience with this test, and be able to show all that they know! Thank you for your support of your child's education.

From the clinic:
McMeen families, with winter here, we are in need of both girls and boys bottoms in ALL sizes. Families who receive clothing from the clinic, please wash and return them in the event that other children may be in need.
Also, if you received an immunization letter and you need assistance or resources, feel free to call the clinic at (720) 424-5525.
Zumba classes:
Come and join us at Zumba classes on Wednesdays in the Gym and Thursday in the Music Classroom at 4:30 pm. Classes are $3.00 dollar's
Important New:
If your child rides the school bus, make sure you contact Transportation to get the most up-to-date information or if you have any question or concern @ 720-423-3200
Front Door in the am & pm:
Families for the safety of our students, please refrain from using the front door on Holly between 7:45 am - 8:00 am and at the end of the day between 2:45 pm - 3:05 pm. If you have an appointment with a staff member, you are permitted to enter through the doors on Holly between those hours. Parents should refrain from coming in the back of the school prior to the first bell at 7:58 am and after the late bell at 8:05 am. Thank you for help in making sure that we are keeping our building safe.
All students arriving after 8:05 am must enter through the doors on Holly. Remember students who arrive after 8:05 are considered tardy and will need to receive a tardy pass from the receptionist.
During inclement weather or on cold mornings where the temperature is 30 degrees or below, we will bring students inside. Students will be admitted into the building at 7:45. There is no adult supervision for students before 7:45. Grades ECE-2snd will be in the cafeteria on inside mornings and grades 3-5 will be in the auditorium.

In order to respect our instructional time, please plan to prearrange your visits.
Please reach out to your child's teacher before visiting your student's classroom.
This allows the teacher to plan an engaging way for you to participate, and will not detract from student learning.
Celebrating birthdays with your child's class is a great way to build community and make your child feel special. In order to respect our instructional time, please plan to have these celebrations during your child's lunch period in the cafeteria. As a reminder, all food brought to share must be prepackaged. Homemade food may not be shared.
Lost and found items are near the gym
. Please encourage your student to look through the lost and found for items that they have misplaced. All items not retrieved at the end of the month will be donated to a local charity.

Examenes CMAS:
Los estudiantes en los grados 3, 4 y 5 tomarán sus evaluaciones estatales (CMAS PARCC) durante el mes de abril. De la enfermeria:
Familias de McMeen, con el invierno acercándose rápidamente, estamos necesitando ropa interior para niñas y niños en TODOS los tamaños. Las familias que reciben ropa de la clínica, por favor lavela y devuélvala en caso de que otros niños lo necesiten.
Clases de Zumba:
Vengan y acompanenos a clases de Zumba los Miercoles y Jueves a las 4:30 pm en el gimnasio y en el Auditorio 3.00 Dolares por cada clase.
Autobuses:
Si su hijo viaja en el autobús escolar, asegúrese de ponerse en contacto con Transportation para obtener la información más actualizada o si tiene alguna pregunta o inquietud @ 720-423-3200
Puerta de la entrada:
En la mañana y tarde: familias por la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes, por favor, absténgase de usar la puerta de la puerta de enfrente en Holly entre las 7:45 am - 8:05 y al final del día durante 2:45 pm - 3:15 pm.
Llegadas tardes:
La llegada de todos los estudiantes después de las 8:05 am deberán de entrar en la puerta de Holly. Recuerde estudiantes quienes llegan a las 8:05 serán considerados tarde y recibirán un pase de tardanza en la recepción
Inclemencias del Clima:
El tiempo de lluvia fresca de esta semana es un buen recordatorio de que se acerca el invierno. Durante las inclemencias del tiempo o en las mañanas frías donde la temperatura es de 32 grados o menos, llevaremos a los estudiantes al interior de la escuela. Los estudiantes serán admitidos en el edificio a las 7:45. No hay supervisión de adultos para los estudiantes antes de las 7:45. Grados ECE-primero será llevados a la cafetería en las mañanas de días de adentro y los grados 2-5 serán llevados al auditorio.
Visitas en los salones de clases:
En orden de respectar nuestro tiempo de instrucción, por favor planee y arregle con tiempo sus visitas. Po favor comuníquese con la maestra/o antes de vista el salón de sus estudiantes
Celebración de cumpleaños en McMeen:
Celebrando los cumpleaños con la clase de sus hijos, es una grandiosa manera de crear un sentido de comunidad y de hacer sentir especial a su hijo. A fin de respectar nuestro tiempo de aprendizaje, por favor planee estas celebraciones durante el periodo de almuerzo de su hijo en la cafetería.
Como recordatorio, toda la comida que traiga para compartir debe de ser empaquetada. Comida hecha en casa no se permitirá compartir.
Articulos Perdidos:
Artículos perdidos y encontrados se encuentra en una locación: en la salida por el gimnasio.
Por favor pidale a su hijo a buscar en el área de artículos perdidos para encontrar sus objetos perdido. todos los artículos no reclamados serán donados a una caridad al final del mes.
