It's official! Saturday, June 8, 2019 is the date of the next Devil's Slide Ride Events for PARCA! We hope to see you there!

Saturday, June 29, 2018 marked the seventh annual Devil’s Slide Ride fundraiser for PARCA. This year’s event was a huge success, bringing in over 500 participants from as far away as Costa Rica.

Against the backdrop of the most breathtaking views in San Mateo County, the Devil’s Slide Ride events featured three challenging cycling routes; the 104 mile “Century from Hell”, the 59 mile “Merciless Metric Century”, the 38 mile “Hellion’s Metric Half-Century” and four demanding trail runs including “The Fiery 4K”, “The Evil 11K”, “The Hella Hard Half Marathon” & “The Devil’s Dirty 30K”.

Back for a second year, the “Pup Walk, Whale Talk” a leisurely walk along the beautiful Pacifica coastline for four-legged and two-legged creatures alike, was highlighted by an informative presentation on humpback whales and other marine mammals by Marine Naturalist Izzy Szczepaniak.

PARCA clients were on hand again this year working the aid stations and greeting participants as they returned to the Pacifica Community Center for lunch. Their efforts as well as those of the PARCA staff, board members, and volunteers made all difference in the success of this year’s Devil’s Slide Ride , Run & Walk .

In April the exterior of PARCA’s Cedar House was given a well-deserved makeover courtesy of Terra Ferma Landscapes . A new gate and raised planters complete with zucchini, pepper, tomato & strawberry plants were added to the home’s outside entryway. Fruit trees were planted in the backyard.

Cedar house residents pitched in, helping with the initial planting and have been caring for the plants ever since.

Thank you to Terra Ferma Landscapes for this wonderful gift! The residents of Cedar House now enjoy fresh produce they grew themselves and look forward to enjoying the fruits & veggies of their labor for years to come.
