FEATURED EVENT: Intel Reading Matters Day
Recently, 60 volunteers from Intel partnered with SMART (Start Making a Reader Today) to host an Intel Reading Matters Day at Brookwood and W.L. Henry Elementary Schools. The Intel volunteers and students experienced the magic of SMART: providing students one-on-one reading time with an engaged adult and new books they get to pick out and keep forever. The day was a celebration of Intel's sponsorship of a Book Giveaway Day for the 1000+ students participating in SMART throughout Washington County this school year. Attendees included Intel Foundation President Pia Wilson-Body, and SMART Executive Director Chris Otis. If you are interested in becoming a SMART reader, please visit www.getsmartoregon.org .

That translates to 18.7 million gallons of water and nearly $27,000 in costs saved! Among the top contributors to the savings were improved irrigation through controls, maintenance, and repairs; and the installation of more efficient plumbing fixtures.
