SOMETHING WORTH SHARING

4 Rituals to Practice Everyday to Make You Happy
(As shown by Neuroscience Research)

Ask yourself: What am I grateful for?
Practicing gratitude actually affects your brain the same way that antidepressants like Wellbutrin and Prozac do! Even if you can't think of many things to be grateful for, it's the active practice of searching that counts.

Label your negative emotions
Make sure you give your feelings a name- Are you sad? Are you Angry? Are you Frustrated? Giving your feelings an explicit name reduces arousal in the systems that make you feel negatively. Simple, but it works.

Make more decisions
Stop waiting for the "perfect" moment to decide on something. Take back control and start deciding more because more often than not a "good enough decision is almost always good enough."

 Give lots of looongg hugs
Hugs are worth it. Hugging someone you love has been shown to increase the neurotransmitter oxytocin and reduce pain. Make an effort to talk to those you love and give them extra long hugs.

NEW STRATEGY TO PROTECT OLDER ADULTS FROM FALLING... AN OBSTACLE COURSE?
In the Netherlands, there is a new therapy for older adults who are scared of falling- an obstacle course! The course teaches adults 65 and older how to navigate treacherous ground to avoid falling, but also perhaps more importantly, how to safety fall in order to minimize injuries if falling is unavoidable. This type of therapy for older adults has recently become increasingly popular in the Netherlands- so much so that the government rates various programs across the country and they are sometimes covered by health insurance! his type of therapy currently isn't common in the US, but with the success in the Netherlands, popularity is spreading worldwide!
