Retro Game Club: Mini Game Mania
Tuesday, March 5th, 6:00pm,
Community Room
Do you love gaming? Want to play and learn about the groundbreaking games that started it all? Then this is an event for you! Join our Technology Librarian, Patrick, for a look into the past generations of video games. Attendance is open to all.  


AARP Tax Prep, Community Room
Every Wednesday and Thursday 10:00am-3:00pm
Begins Wednesday, February 6th through Wednesday, April 10th
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free, individualized tax preparation for low-to moderate-income taxpayers - especially those 50 and older - at nearly 5,000 locations nationwide.  For a list of documents to bring with you, click here.

Cookbook Club

Adult Knitting Meet Up
Tuesday, March 19th, 6:30pm
A casual meeting for knitters looking to work on their projects with others who enjoy knitting and crocheting. Join us on the Third Tuesday of the month to meet and socialize with local knitters. 

Free Movie Night: Green Book (2018)
Rated PG-13, 130 minutes
Wednesday, March 27th, 6:00pm
Academy Award Winner for Best Picture. Set in 1962, the film is inspired by the true story of a tour of the Deep South by African-American classical and jazz pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and Italian-American bouncer Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen) who served as Shirley's driver  and bodyguard. Directed by Rhode Island native Peter Farrelly.

Adult Game Night

Join us for a laid back game night at the library. Play one of our games ranging from board-building strategy to trivia-style games and more, or bring your own!

Teen Tech Week: Computational Thinking & Coding Activities 
All Week! On a book display by the Holds Shelf
Join us in celebrating Teen Tech Week by taking home some activities to work on later. Activities for all ages will be printed out and left for the taking on a book displa y in the foyer between the Information Desk and the Holds Shelf. Activities will be age and/or grade marked so that you can select the right coding or computational thinking activity for you, a friend, or a family member! Interested in all of them regardless of age? Take any and every activity that interests you! Activities will be made available from Monday, March 4th after school through closing on Saturday, March 9th.

Teen Tech Week: Computational Thinking Activity: Paper Robots 
Monday, March 4th in the Teen Room from 2:00pm-7:00pm
Join us in the Teen Room for a CubeeCraft paper robot extravaganza. The Teen Study Room will be open with a smattering of different characters available for the taking! Grab them while you can! Then take them home and make a paper robot. Going to be at the library for a while? Ask for a pair of scissors and make the robot while you hang out! (Robots are paper action figures that have no moving parts and can not move on their own. They are an exercise in patience, following directions, and fine motor skills.)  
 
Teen Advisory Board 
FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH 
Tuesday, March 5th 6:00pm-7:00pm in the Teen Room 
Come hang out and discuss titles that you are reading, what you would like to see happen at the library, and eat some snacks! Earn a community service hour for attending! Attendance is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.

Thursday, March 7th starting at 5:45pm in the  Community Room
Join us for a dine-in showing of Pacific Rim (PG-13) projected on the big screen in our Community Room. Free popcorn and candy provided - bring your dinner! Our Teen Movie showings are part of our Teen Program offerings but are open to all patrons. 
 
T een Tech Week: Beat Making with Teenage 
Engineering Beat Boards
Friday, March 8th 3:00pm-4:30pm in the Community Room
Interested in music? Making beats? How sounds can be put together and layered in sequences to make a track? Join us for a musical learning session as we create with Teenage Engineering's Pocket Operators (Beat Boards). Due to the limited number of Pocket Operators owned by the library, the program is limited to 12 students in grades 6 through 12. Registration is required. Students can register for this program on our website or by calling the library. 
 
Young Adult for Adults Book Club
 
SECOND TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH 
Tuesday, March 12th 6:00pm-7:30pm, Learning Center 
Interested in a traditional book club?Want to talk about books? This is a traditional book club that meets on the second Tuesday evening of each month (due to scheduling, meeting date may occasionally be the third Tuesday of the month). It is a book group intended for "older" teens and adults. This month's book selection is Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. Copies are available for check out at the library. Teens must be at least in high school to attend this book group. Please see Rebecca with any questions.

Anime & Manga Group

Monthly Anime & Manga meet up is
starting up again! Join other interested  teens in lively discussion, anime viewing, craft making, and snack eating! Also, help us with our long-term goal of planning a cosplay event! Attendance is limited to patrons in Grades 6 through 12.

MARCH STORYTIMES
 
Storytime Adventures
Who:  Children ages 3-5 years
When:  Mondays - March 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th  
Storytime is canceled in the event that Tiverton Public Schools are closed.
Two Sessions:   10:15am - 11:00am
                         11:15am - 12:00pm                      
Where:  Children's Activity Room
What:  Join Mr. Monkey and Miss Meg for a storytime adventure. Each week we will explore a fun and interesting topic as we share stories, sing songs, play games and create a piece of art.  Limit:  18 preschoolers per session. Registration is not required. Seats will be distributed on a first-come basis.
 
Teeny Tiny Tales
Who:  Children ages 1 - 2 years
When:  Wednesdays - March 13th, 20th, and 27th
Storytime is canceled in the event that Tiverton Public Schools are closed.
Two Sessions:   10:15am - 11:00am
                         11:15am - 12:00pm    
Where:  Children's Activity Room
What:  Join Mr. Monkey and Miss Meg for stories and songs during this literacy-based playgroup for young patrons. The morning will begin with a short book and group activity, followed by time to play with our new friends.
Limit:  18 toddlers per session. Registration is not required. Seats will be distributed on a first-come basis.
 
Babies & Books
Who:  1 week - 12 months
When:  Thursdays -  March 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th
Storytime is canceled in the event that Tiverton Public Schools are closed.
Time:  10:00am - 10:30am
Where:  Little Readers Book Nook in the Children's Room
What:  Join Little Library Bunny and Miss Meg for nursery rhymes, songs, finger plays and stories while introducing your baby to the wonders of language.
Stories and activities have been chosen for non-walking infants.

Read to Cash

Miss Renee will be back with Cash. To reserve a private 15-minute session to read to Cash, register online or at the library.
 
 
Visit the new Friends book store now in the alcove to the right of the library entrance. Book sale proceeds support library programs.
