March 2, 2019

Welcome to the Lent 2019 issue of The Epistle Online.
We hope this newsletter will be a helpful resource, providing information about happenings  in our parish and sharing content on both spiritual and practical matters related to our Catholic faith.  The Epistle  is so named as a tribute to Saint Paul, our patron, whose letters to the earliest Christians still guide and inform us today.

'Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel'

Your Word is a lamp for my feet
- Psalm 119:105

Fr. Joe has recently been sharing information about Luke's Gospel in his weekly column.  This Lent would be a great time to pick up the Bible (perhaps dust off the Bible?) and read Luke's Gospel.  To read online just click here .   Did you know Saint Luke was a doctor and is the patron saint of physicians and surgeons?

An easy way to start would be to follow along at home
with our St. Paul Scripture Study group.
After reading each section (see below) of Luke's Gospel,  our Scripture Study groups get together every two weeks or so for discussion.
Consider forming your own group with friends or family members, reading each section and stopping in between to reflect and discuss.

" There are a lot of Catholic stereotypes that don't make a lot of sense to me. I've never understood the concept of Catholic guilt when Catholics have a corner on absolution. Nor have I seen any Catholic worship an idol. But the accusation that Catholics don't read the Bible rings rather more true...more

Our Family of Faith

This section of the newsletter aims to help you put names with faces and allow everyone in our parish family to get to know each other better.

If you call the parish office on a Wednesday, you just might have the pleasure of speaking with  Roz Durante , one of our parish office volunteers.  Roz has been volunteering once a week at the office for several years. She's always cheerful and always helpful, and the parish staff truly appreciates her time and talent.  Roz, a mother and grandmother, also works once a week in the lunchroom at Saint Paul School and volunteers twice a week in the SPS library where she can be found reading to the children. She's a busy mother and grandmother and we're blessed to have her as a member of St. Paul Parish!
