Convention Update: October 2018
Dear Companions in Christ,

Convention is only nine days away! I'm looking forward to seeing you on Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27 at the Marriott Hotel in Mystic, CT.
Below are some important reminders as Convention grows close.

As a part of this year's Convention, we are trying on a new model for conducting our business together. This will create more space for prayer and the worship of God, meaningful conversation, and the opportunity for generative work that will help us faithfully live into our work in this new missional age. You can learn more about this new process on the Annual Convention page of the website.

The Questions are Ready

We are trying on a new way of doing the work of Convention this year. As a part of this process, we will be considering four questions that were submitted and selected by voting members of Convention. You can view the four questions that were selected and begin thinking about which one you will work on!

Resolutions & Report

As a part of this trial year, we will consider resolutions that were submitted to Convention by the September 14 deadline. The six resolutions that we will take up on Friday, October 26 are:
  1. Budget of Convention
  2. Clergy Compensation
  3. Affirming Racial Healing, Justice, & Reconciliation
  4. Episcopal Elections
  5. Definition of Clergy in Good Standing in ECCT
  6. Status of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Darien, CT

Pre-Convention Offerings

We have several interesting and engaging pre-Convention offerings at this year's Convention. Please consider coming early to take part in one of these unique opportunities.
You can learn more about each of these workshops, including times and locations, online. Note: full descriptions coming soon

Convention Worship

Choir
Do you enjoy singing? Would you like the opportunity to sing with people from churches all over Connecticut? Then you may want to check out the Convention Choir! Led by Jake Street, Director of Music at St. Paul's on the Green, Norwalk, the Convention Choir will lead us in song at the worship service on Saturday morning at Convention. Singers are asked to come early at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday for a rehearsal, and more information will be coming soon about the anthem music. If you are interested, please email June Aziz and let her know your name, parish, and that you are interested in singing in the choir.

Eucharistic Ministers
If you would like to help with serving communion at the Convention worship service, please email June Aziz with your name, parish, and that you wish to help serve communion. As we get closer to Convention, a member of the worship planning team will be in contact with you with more details.
