A.R. Club!
The A.R. Club is being offered for those interested in reading and taking A.R. tests after school to make their goal by the end of 1st quarter on October 26. The A.R. Club will be held from 3:15 to 4:00. The teacher hosting AR Club on the day your child will be attending will need permission either in an email to school@sjlagrange.com  or a written note. Please include if you will be picking up your child or if he/she should go to Extended Care. Those not picked up by 4:05 will be excused to Extended Care.

On Wednesday, October 31, just because they love you, the teachers will provide a free lunch for all students. They will be offering “hallo-weenies” (hot dogs), chips and a clementine.  
Pizza Friday Lunch Volunteers Needed

***Even though this is a fundraiser for 7 th  & 8 th  grades,  ANY  parents, grandparents, aunts or uncles of any age student are welcome to help serve pizza on Fridays! It’s a fun, no-stress way to get to see your kids in the middle of the day and to see them interact with their friends. If you can help out, please click on the link below – and  THANK YOU !

So Kids, Sew!
St. John’s sewing club continues and more sessions are open in October. 
We will be sewing pillowcases for Operation Support Our Troops and students in grades 6-8 are invited to sign up. We will meet on Mondays from 3:30 – 4:30 on October 15, 22, and 29.  Get a permission slip from Mrs. Starr to sign up for one or all sessions.  
Trunk or Treat will take place on Saturday October 27 th from 11:30-1:30 PM in the St. John’s parking lot. Join us for an afternoon of fun for all ages; a great chance to visit with friends, bring your neighbors and your family to enjoy a nice fall afternoon. There will be snacks, a jumpy house and many decorated cars that will provide a treat and some games. Check out the table in the Narthex with more details. If you would like to be a “host” for a car, please contact Ms. Pece at k.pece@sjlagrange.com or Mrs. Strasser at j.strasser@sjlagrange.com .
We are asking school families to donate bags of wrapped individual sized Halloween candy to distribute during Trunk or Treat. Please bring the candy and drop off in buckets labeled Trunk or Treat in the church Narthex or the school office lobby by Wednesday October 24 th . If you would like to volunteer to help at Trunk or Treat or participate by decorating a trunk, please visit the sign up genius links below.

Walther Christian Academy will have an Open House
Thursday, October 18 th at 7pm .

Chipotle Night School Fundraiser

Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support our School! 
Visit  Chipotle at 40 North LaGrange Road  in La Grange on Tuesday, October 23 between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m
Bring in the flyer,   show it on your smartphone, or tell the cashier you're supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to St. John's Lutheran School. Share with friends and family - anyone can support our School!
Operation Christmas Child
Don't forget to stop by the school office and pick up your Operation Christmas Child box. There are only a few weeks left before they have to be turned in so that we can make sure they are distributed to children around the world before Christmas.

A Journey with Harp and Voice
(featuring Mrs. Murphy and Mrs. Tapia)

St. John’s will host “Ravel and Britten: A Short Journey with Harp and Voice”, featuring harpist AnnLaura Tapia and soprano Amanda Murphy, on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. The concert will feature two primary works: “ A Birthday Hansel ” (a setting of Robert Burns Poems by Benjamin Britten); and “ Cinq Melodies Popularies Grecques ” (a setting for harp and voice by Maurice Ravel). The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken. Please help us promote the St. John’s Concert Series!
