Message from the CEO
Welcome to our 25th anniversary year! Health informatics has a long history in Australia with its foundations closely tied to nursing informatics and the first health informatics conference in 1993. HISA was born out of the idea to have a national focal point for health informatics activities and to promote and advocate for health informatics and e-health. Today we are Australia’s largest digital health community - a movement for health reform gathering momentum and steadily growing. As you know, the digital era is well and truly here and many advances our founding members could only imagine are now business-as-usual. On the other hand, there are many challenges we still strive to overcome – interoperability issues, change management, workforce reform and more. There is still plenty of work to be done. Thank you for being part of Australia’s digital health journey!

PS: Don’t miss out on attending our 25th Health Informatics Conference this year in Sydney, registrations are open now!

Angela Reed is coming to HIC 2018 and NIA conference!
HISA and Nursing Informatics Australia are proud to be hosting Irish nurse and digital health leader Angela Reed in Sydney for HIC and NIA in July this year. Angela works in a senior nurse leadership position with the Northern Ireland Practice and Education Council for nursing and midwifery (NIPEC) and is the recipient of the Florence Nightingale Foundation Garfield Weston national leadership scholarship. Angela is using this exciting opportunity to study ‘nurse leadership digital capabilities’ to enable nurse leaders (and midwives) to influence and contribute to large scale digital health agendas. She is keen to meet with senior nursing and midwifery teams who have led uni/multi-professional transformation to adopt new ways of working and practices for the purpose of implementing a whole system digital change.

Find out how to meet Angela - read more.
