Artist Biography:
Therese Bisceglia received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, MA. Since 1981 Therese has created works in handmade paper, clay and mixed media. Her work has been exhibited and sold throughout the USA, Germany, France and Japan.

She and her husband, Tom Martin, left Boston and moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1989. There they opened a contemporary craft gallery, Off the Wall, located on Canyon Road in 1992. Therese and Tom closed their gallery in November of 2004 to pursue other interests. In April of 2013 the couple moved to North Myrtle Beach, SC.

Therese continues to engage her artistic vision. She creates 2D and 3D mixed media works incorporating her love for abstraction, travel, collage and storytelling.

Artist Statement :
I am a collagist at heart using layers, depth, textures and COLOR! Humor, irony and storytelling play a significant role in my art.  My current work utilizes recycled and found elements. Many of my pieces incorporate cannibalized fragments of older works, cardboard, food packaging, found and scrap wood, picture frame fragments, old book pages, scrap metal, glass shelving and various elements of saved ephemera; stamps, theaters tickets, museum tickets, tourist brochures...

Each piece has a cacophony of media: watercolor, acrylic paint, oil pastel, watercolor crayon, soft pastel, pencil, oil paint, encaustic, cold wax ...

I feel my paintings are expanding and exploding.
What comes next? I have no idea...

That's the fun part!
