Dear Fellow Servants of Jesus Christ, Jim casual 8-2014

I sincerely hope that you have gotten your tickets to "Amahl and the Night Visitors" because it is going to be an amazing event!

Performances will be held on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 at 7:30 pm in the Saxe Gotha Light House Auditorium. Everyone is welcome to attend either one or both of these very special productions. You do not want to miss this family friendly event! Tickets will be available for $5 one hour prior to the musical or may be purchased in advance online at www.saxegotha.org .

This wonderful musical tells the story of the Three Kings who follow the star to Bethlehem. There, they stop for shelter at the home of Amahl, a poor, crippled shepherd boy who lives with his widowed mother. Inspired by the Wise Men's tale of a kingdom "built on love alone," Amahl offers his own simple gift to the Christ Child. And then a miracle happens. . . Sorry, I don't do spoilers, so you will need to make sure you get your ticket to find out what happens!

The history of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" is fascinating. This one act performance was commissioned by NBC and first performed on December 24, 1951, in New York City at NBC studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, where it was broadcast live on television from that venue as the debut production of the Hallmark Hall of Fame. It was the first opera specifically composed for television in America.

Again, you will not want to miss this wonderful Christmas event that will feature some of the best talent from our congregation and the surrounding area. So please get your ticket now!

In Christ's love,
Pastor Jim

Amahl and the Night Visitors Musical
Friday, Dec. 14 and 15 at 7:30 (Saxe Gotha Light House)

This musical tells the story of the Three Kings who visit a poor, crippled boy and his widowed mother. This is an exciting production for us at Saxe Gotha. It is unique that we have a young man playing Amahl and his actual mother playing the role of his mother! Our stage director has worked internationally, and members of the USC voice faculty will be involved in this unique Christmas performance. You do not want to miss this family friendly event!

Tickets will be available for $5 one hour prior to the musical or may be purchased in advance online:
Dear Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church Family,

I would like to thank all of you for such a wonderful time of celebration last Sunday.  Thank you to Next Gen Ministry especially for the beautiful hand blown glass bowl which I will display permanently.  It is much too pretty to keep it in a cabinet and the beautiful glass tree ornament.

The reception was such a blessing and gave me a chance to spend time with many of you that I have served with over the years. Saxe Gotha has been my family and support system as well as my employer over the past 24 years of my life.  I have raised my children here and walked through a dark time of grieving the loss of Ron, my husband, here as well.  I have seen the ups and downs of the church over the years and the many changes and challenges that come with time. Through all of this, Saxe Gotha has continued to be my rock; my home base and most of all, my family.

I look forward to a new chapter of life and new adventures but Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church will forever be a piece of me and a piece of my heart. I love all of you and thank you for your love, kindness and trust in me as I have served.

All  my love,
Lee Ann

"To the Pastors, Leaders, and Congregation of Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church,

From all of us at Mission of Hope Ministries. We THANK you!   The delicious food you prepared and delivered to us on Thanksgiving morning provided for just over 300 hot meals  to the Cayce community.

Many expressed that without this food they would not have e had any food to feed their families. - some had no working stove, others were unable to cook for health reasons.  Everyone who received the plates said, 'Thank you'.

We appreciate  the time  that so many spent on preparing the food.  Your generosity has touched many families, shut-ins, and homeless persons to enjoy Thanksgiving knowing someone cares!

Pastors John and Laura Watts   God Bless you!"
Church Blueprints and Drawings:  The Session Facilities Committee is attempting to gather all of the
church construction drawings and other documents into one area and make them available via computer to those needing them. We are still missing drawings of some of the phases of expansion. If you have, or know of someone who has (such as past members) any plans or drawings, please bring them to Alisha Hudson or Jennifer Dever at the church office, or call or email Flip Law at 803-727-7795 or  [email protected].

Each session is self-contained and includes a video featuring some of the foremost Christian experts on grief, followed by a group discussion. Grief Share meets every Sunday in the Welcome Center from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, beginning January 6.  Cost is $15 for the workbook.  To register, call Renee Starnes at 803-359-7770 or email her at [email protected].

Saxe Gotha friends and family,

Donnelle and I are excited to formally announce that we are going to become grandparents in February.  While we love our grand dogs, having a new baby boy to cherish has us over the moon with excitement.

We couldn't imagine a way to celebrate without including all of you, so we're hosting a reception immediately after the 11:00 worship service on Sunday, January 6 in the fellowship hall.  Please come greet our oldest daughter and son-in-law, Stefanie and Jeff Cain, and enjoy light refreshments with us.  Baby Cain doesn't have a name yet, but we know he is a boy!

We'll have cards available for you to write your best grandparent advice for us as well as parenting tips for Stefanie and Jeff.  We look forward to sharing our excitement with our church family.  Hope you can join us!

Blessings!
Pastor Jim
