New developments from Tact
Astro Gaming - C40 TR Controller

Astro Gaming has worked with Tact on many of their groundbreaking headsets, so when they asked us to help develop the most advanced controller ever, we jumped at the chance. Elite gamers, in addition to being very particular about their controllers, tend to wear out the same component over and over again. Once the component goes bad, the entire controller is trash. The bar was exceptionally high to create a robust, beautiful solution to this problem that was also true to the original design concept of an elite controller.

Working closely with Astro Gaming’s Design and Engineering execs, we provided an array of concepts for swappable module mechanisms, exploring a full range of ideas from the simple to the complex. We further supported development by providing 3D CAD sculpting and mechanical design. The final solution cleverly allows gamers to customize the controller and easily replace the parts they abuse the most.

The Verge calls it “arguably even more elite than Microsoft’s Xbox One Elite.”

Kinsa - QuickCare™ Thermometer

Kinsa’s goal was to make a low-cost smart digital thermometer with an Industrial Design that appeared clean and effortless. Making complex products appear simple can be quite a challenge. We developed an architecture that removed part lines, maximized the display size, reduced part count, and kept manufacturing costs low, all while matching the industrial design intent. We also sculpted ultra-smooth CAD surfaces to enhance its “soft as a baby’s bottom” design.

Verifone - Mobile Commerce Terminal

Tact supported Verifone's Carbon Mobile 5 global development team for an on-site sprint in Chicago with designers from California and Contract Manufacturers from Asia. It was thrilling to be part of Verifone’s A-Team to develop their next flagship product. Together we combined cutting-edge print and display technologies into a beautiful, compact, hand-held mobile commerce product that fits comfortably into a wide range of hands. Sharing a few Chicago microbrews after all the hard work was pretty gratifying too.
