The Wave
April 6, 2018
We look forward to welcoming you to our April Conferences on Monday.  Our afternoon will be spent on conferences that we have already arranged.  If you have not heard from us - you are free as a bird!  We then open up for the evening, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM, where the teachers will be in an Arena configuration in the "Valley" (the middle hallway), and short conferences of 5 - 10 minutes will be held.  This is a great time to check in on progress, ask any questions of our staff about the upcoming IP, have any concerns addressed for the recent term 2 report cards.  All of our staff are experts on your kids or you can select the person that you meet with.  Be sure to check through Chalk as well, if you choose to attend.  We hope that we see you for refreshments and just to say hello!

We are starting to plan the TRCS Carnival!  Please join the parent group on April 12th at 7:00pm.  We will be meeting at TRCS to come up with exciting carnival booths and activities for the entire school to enjoy at the carnival on June 11th.  The 7th grade leadership team has chosen  the carnival's theme:  "Around the World".  We could use your help to make this a magical last day of school.  Everyone is welcome to join in the fun of planning!  Bring your ideas for carnival booths, activities and entertainment.

Hope to see you on Thursday, April 12th!

Smarter Balanced Assessments

Our belief about testing is that it is a part of our lives. Getting into colleges, becoming a CPA, any online class, driving a car - all involve testing that is electronic. From the tiny experiences to the full blown SAT, your kids will be prepared - not stressed - from experiencing these types of assessments. We use them to provide an "apples to apples" approach to progress of students from year to year.  What we know for sure is:  OUR CURRICUM CHALLENGES STUDENTS! These tests are all part of that higher expectation. Students at TRCS do very well on the testing, a good part of that is due to your work at home with your kids and the talented teaching staff partnered with you. We provide the training for kids to be successful - NOT STRESSED - on these types of tests.  They are not going to get "away from them", but rather we are helping them to cope effectively through them.  What you can do for us is:

1.  Watch the Wave and know when testing is coming for your kids.
2.  Get them to school on time!
3.  Provide a healthy breakfast each morning!

Without a doubt, this is a team effort and one that is headed to the  future.
Parent Tea
Afternoon tea anyone? We would love to host a get together to share stories and just have some time together.  Our staff will be there to answer any questions, laugh with you and just share some time that is just for you.  Come join us on April 19th! 3:15 - 4:00 PM

We hope that you will mark your calendars and join us!

May Lunches
We have released the May lunch calendar and order form - our last one for the 2017-18 school year! We have been overall pleased with this program and appreciate the parents that have participated in the lunches from Fresh n' Local this school year. We hope to finish the year with strong numbers of orders! Remember, we are required to order and pay for 30 lunches each day, regardless if they are sold or not. We have 5 weeks of school in May and would love to see everyone try some Fresh n' Local! Get your order form here - they are due by April 18th!

Subheading
We wanted to add some PE time to the Spring and also have some afternoon spring fun at the end of the school day. To meet these needs - fun perhaps the most important - our TRCS staff is instructing the following classes from 2:15 - 2:45 on Monday and Wednesdays:

* Basketball Games (7 Minute workout)
* Field Games
* Hula Hoops/Gardening
* Yoga/Mindfulness
* Dance/Movement
* Disc Golf
* Running/Walking

These classes are 5 weeks long and your kids have made their own selections.  We will then change to a different round on May 7th.  If you stop by during these times, you will see some very happy kids enjoying all the bounties of the spring!  YEA!!!
