Volunteers Needed to Plan Spring Event
Geisinger Holy Spirit is in need of a few community leaders willing to volunteer their time to help plan our signature Spring Festival, scheduled for June 9, 2018.  Meetings will alternate from evenings to days to accommodate busy schedules.  The Planning Committee will help to secure vendors, sponsors and will help on the day of with set up and tear down.  This is a family friendly festival with music, crafts, food trucks, and a petting zoo. Do You Want to Be a Mentor? 
The LGBT Center is excited to be partnering with the YWCA Greater Harrisburg on the PAATH to Success Mentoring Program. This program is designed to reduce the risk factors for human trafficking through connection and support with caring adult mentors. LGBTQ youth are at greater risk for human trafficking than non-LGBTQ youth, so they will directly benefit from this program. Committee Volunteers Needed
Relay For Life of Harrisburg (RFL) is looking for dedicated volunteers to join our Event Leadership Team (ELT) to plan and implement the Relay For Life of Harrisburg's 2018 event. Relay For Life is the signature fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. It raises money for essential services for Harrisburg community members who are cancer patients, survivors or their caretakers. The ELT is looking for members to help coordinate logistics, entertainment, fundraising, sponsorships and mission-based activities. All our hard work is showcased to the community on Saturday, June 23rd - the day of this year's event. Our committee is tight-knit and collaborative and we are looking for volunteers who are passionate about stomping out Cancer. Volunteers Positions Open
Susquehanna Art Museum at The Marty and Tom Philips Family Art Center, Harrisburg's only dedicated art museum, has an ongoing need for volunteers in several areas of the Museum's operations.  
Front Desk Volunteers greet the public, serving as the face of the organization. Front Desk Volunteers maintain point of service activities, including selling tickets, memberships, and gift shop items in the Lobby Gallery of the Museum.
Gallery Hosts  spend time in the Main Gallery, serving as greeters while providing a level of security  for the exhibited art work.  Some Gallery Hosts have an interest in art, although that is not a prerequisite.  Ample materials describing the artwork as well as background materials are provided, including a docent orientation at the beginning of each Main Gallery exhibition.

The Susquehanna Chorale is seeking volunteer ushers for its spring concerts on Friday, May 11 in Hershey, and Saturday, May 12 at Messiah College. Susquehanna Chorale Invites New Board Members  
The Susquehanna Chorale, a national award-winning adult choral ensemble based in central Pa., has openings on its Board of Directors for terms beginning in June (two-year term). The Chorale is especially seeking individuals with experience in social media communications or fund development, and individuals with a background in education to serve as liaison to its Educational Outreach Program (children's and youth choirs). Theatre Harrisburg Seeks New Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Theatre Harrisburg seeks an inspiring leader with proven fundraising and strategic planning abilities and exceptional managerial skills.  This individual will be responsible to direct budgeting, fundraising, grant writing, financial management, marketing, and public relations, and ultimately is responsible for Theatre Harrisburg's overall fiscal, production, and operational success. Are you looking for a team building experience enhanced by a serene setting?  Camp Reily is available for rent!  The camp, which is owned by the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg, is set in the rustic beauty of 28 wooded acres and located just off Fishing Creek Valley Road.  The facility is available for rent on weekends from May through November.   Approximately 100 people can enjoy this rustic retreat!  There are five cabins with electricity and fans (no furnishings). A camp style lodge with a full kitchen and a large fireplace serves as a group gathering area.  Amenities include a community-sized pool which is available during the summer season for an additional fee.    Outdoor space includes an open air chapel perfect for a wedding. A large activities field, a full-sized basketball court and miles of hiking trails. You plan, you prepare, you promote your event...then you learn that another big fundraiser is being held during your event! Cards with a Heart Reception
YWCA of Greater Harrisburg invites you to a reception that will feature local artist Carol Scott on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 pm  at the Harrisburg Hilton.   Carol will auction her painting "Ship Flowers," the artwork showcased on the 2018 YWCA Cards with Heart, with proceeds benefiting the YWCA. Additional pieces of Carol's artwork will be on display and available for purchase at the reception.   Attendance is free, and the YWCA will be offering complimentary appetizers and a cash bar to all attendees. A Celebration of Science in Support of Kids

Mark your calendars! The YWCA Greater Harrisburg's 14th Annual Race Against Racism is being held Saturday, April 28, 2018, rain or shine.  The race supports the YWCA's mission to eliminate racism, empower women and girls, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.  The funds we raise are crucial to sustaining our racial justice programs throughout the year ahead.   The 5K run/walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and starts and ends at Solider's Grove.  Day-of registration and packet pick-up open at 7:30 a.m.   This is the second year we will be following the route through downtown and midtown. The Annual Kid's Fun Run will take place at 10:00 a.m. during the Humanity Fest.  This is a FREE dash for kids through age 12.  There will be food trucks and vendors, live music, dancers and performances all following the race.   For more information and registration link, click here.

The 14th Annual Randi's Race 
A 5K Run/Walk for Hope and Courage
will be held at Adams Ricci Community Park on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the Race begins at 9:00 am. Randi's Race is a 5K Run/Walk in memory of Nancy Chavez's beloved daughter, Randi Lee Trimble, who was murdered in East Pennsboro Township in 2003 by a hit man hired by her husband. Both men are now serving life terms with no chance of parole.   Since her daughter's death, Nancy Chavez has been an advocate for victims of domestic violence. She established Randi's House of Angels (RHOA), a project of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities, fiscal sponsor, that supports children who experience and/are victims of domestic violence.  Over the past thirteen years, Randi's Race has raised more than $388,000 to benefit Randi's House of Angels. Over $275,000 has been donated to domestic violence and crime victim agencies that support programs and services for children. Susquehanna Chorale Spring Concerts  
Tickets are now on sale for "Roots & Wings," the Susquehanna Chorale's spring concert series. Registration now open for the 2018 Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community
Highmark Inc. and community members will come together again across Pennsylvania and Delaware to raise money for more than 230 local nonprofit health and human services organizations participating in the annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. Online registration for the walk is now open, so participants can take their first step towards completing this year's walk by registering today.  Highmark organizes and underwrites all costs associated with the walk, while walkers select the participating nonprofit organization they wish to support. The nonprofits then keep 100 percent of the funds raised by their walkers. Last year, 13,000 registered walkers raised $1.46 million.  A 5K (3.1 mile) route and a one-mile fun walk (both handicap-accessible) are available, and pets on leashes are welcome. Save the Date JTDF Golf Outing
The JT Dorsey Foundation Golf Outing will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Valley Green Golf Course.  The event kicks off with lunch at noon, followed by a 1:00 shotgun start.  Register  here to participate.  The JT Dorsey Foundation is a non-profit, youth development organization that provides key services that are lacking, but necessary, in inner city Pennsylvania communities.   The JTDF's mission is to provide wellness education, physical activity, mentoring, leadership, employment training and a safe space for at-risk children to grow up.  
Harrisburg Hoopla #competeforacause
The Emerging Philanthropist Program (EPP), a partnership between Harrisburg Young Professionals (HYP) and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Harrisburg Hoopla on June 2, 2018 at Skyline Sports Complex on City Island! Our goal is to unite the local community, boost our economy, and raise money for local nonprofit organizations through friendly track and field competitions.   Harrisburg Hoopla will be a full day event consisting of teams competing in various sports & activities.  Each team will represent a local nonprofit organization of their choice and compete to donate a portion of the event's proceeds to that nonprofit! Teams are not responsible for fundraising for this event; event proceeds will be donated.  Information for sponsorship opportunities is available here.  For more information and registration, click here.

Located at 4750 Lindle Road, Harrisburg, our newly renovated office building features a sizable room ideal for presentations, meetings or special gatherings. The 100 person capacity room is equipped with Wi-Fi, audio-video (AV), a large drop down screen and a podium. Catering access is also a benefit of the facility. The Community Caller is emailed to over 1800 subscribers on a regular schedule during the first week of every month.  The goal of the publication is to match people and resources with service opportunities and missions & programs that benefit the community.  Announcements are placed primarily by non profit organizations, educational institutions, and other community organizations.   If you would like to include an event or announcement in the next issue, please feel free to contact LHA with detailed information including:
