 Monticello Glades

Hike Date: Saturday, April 21, 2018

Outing Description: We will hike less than a mile from the trailhead to a large beaver pond and hardwood forest. Glade community will include Oglethorpe oak, Sabal palmetto, wild comfrey and lots more. There are also some large, attractive mafic outcrops.

Meeting Time, Place and Directions: Meet at 10:00 am at the intersection of Felton McMichael Rd (called Middlebrook Pond Rd on the other side) and GA Hwy 83 south of Monticello, GA. See a Google map here.

Distance and Difficulty:  Hike total is 2 miles at most. There is a slight descent in and climb out.

Duration of Hike:
2 to 3 hours

Participant Limit: 20

What to Bring:  Lunch, plenty of water, rain gear, and sturdy footwear. If allergic to bees/wasps, remember to bring your meds/epi-pen.

Cancellation: Hikers will be notified if the outing is canceled due to forecast of severe weather, etc. 

Pet Policy: Well-behaved dogs are fine.

Family Safe Policy: Georgia ForestWatch Outings are a smoke-, alcohol-, and drug-free setting.

Our outings are free of charge and open to everyone on a first come, first served basis, up to the limit.
