The Way of Love: Practices for a Jesus-Centered Life Thursdays, 10:00 am - 11:30 am Parish Hall Conference Room (downstairs) Join us this Thursday, October 18th for our second gathering on Bishop Michael Curry's study The Way of Love. You may join in at any time! All materials are provided.

Week 3 will focus on the spiritual practice of Prayer .  Jesus teaches us to come before God with humble hearts, boldly offering our thanksgivings and concerns to God or simply listening for God’s voice in our lives and in the world. Whether in thought, word or deed, individually or corporately, when we pray we invite and dwell in God’s loving presence. The next Rector's Forum and Youth Hot Chocolate Hour are October 28th at 10am. Mark your calendars!!

We will discuss vulnerability and empathy and how we can open our hearts to others in an often divisive world. Watch this short video to learn more: Brene Brown on Empathy Brown states that empathy is feeling with people. It's a vulnerable choice that makes us face emotions within ourselves as we support others in their own struggles. Yet, being vulnerable isn't easy. Brown suggests that true empathy means that we first have to take on the perspective of the person in pain, then we have to withhold judgement, and finally, we must recognize the emotion that is behind the pain. Maybe you have been on the receiving end of empathy. What was it like and how did someone help you? What can we learn from the times people got it right and when they got it wrong?

Announcements VESTRY MEETING - There will be a Vestry meeting this Sunday, October 21st after the 11:00 am service. FOOD PANTRY - Next Sunday October 28th is Food Pantry Sunday. Please be as generous as you can. The pantry is feeding more families than ever before and needs our help. All non perishable items are needed. FREE CLINIC VOLUNTEERS - Grace Church will once again be providing dinner for the Free Clinic Volunteers at Goochland Cares every Tuesday in November. We will be preparing and serving a weekly dinner for 15 people. Please contact Kate Sarfaty at 804-556-3344 or katesarfaty@gmail.com if you can help out. HOLIDAY BAZAAR - There will be a Holiday Bazaar Planning meeting on Sunday, October 28th after the 11:00 am service ! Please try to attend this important meeting so we can ensure we have all bases covered for our biggest ECW event of the year! Reminder: Holiday Bazaar will be on Saturday, November 10 !
